I was never a fan of the previous faq taking Bolter Discipline away from Special Issue Ammunition. Its removal hurt things like terminator squads and bikes more than the kill teams.

With the new Space Marine Codex coming out, marines are being flooded with various ways to increase their fire power while still having access to bolter discipline. With these buffs, I don't see a reason why Deathwatch need to be omitted from the rule especially because they already pay a premium to get access to SIA.

I'm gona say pass given how mission tactics etc work.
Also while you may be paying a premium for special issue ammo it's not close to it's actual cost.

There's no reason they should've lost it in the first place.

Deathwatch are good enough they don't need it. You'd have to increase their cost to balance this buff. That's the reason it was removed from DW, it was not intended to buff DW to absurd levels, just make bolters less of a joke, SIA is no joke even if you do pay a premium for it, it is still very good. My opinion may change depending on how good SM become with the coming changes, but as things stand DW are a fair bit better than SM and have done pretty well in tournaments and with discipline they become busted.

The stormbolter/shield veteran unit was/is absurdly shooty for its points. I'm used to running sisters with stormbolters and the games I played with bolter discipline deathwatch were night and day - being able to reliably one shot daemon princes with a minimum size unbuffed squad from half a board away was crazy.
