KEYWORDS: CHAOS, KHORNE, DAEMON, PRIMARCH, WORLD EATSRS
Notes:
So at full health 10 S:18 AP-3 attacks averaging 5 damage each? Insane you say? I haven’t played in a good bit and I remember when I first saw the hierophant’s statline (a model I actually have) and how nonsensical it seemed for it to be an OOM more destructive, and another OOM tougher than the daemon primarchs. Apparently it’s not even an auto include. This is within the same timezone of competitive as that monster for the cost but then it still isn’t close.
The only real concern I have is finding a way to make sure he can get in melee at least once before eating maybe a dozen lascannon hits and dying. I tried to help with that.

Finally found my quote from a gym buddy born and raised in South Korea:
"It is the soldier, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press.
"It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech.
"It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate.
"It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag."

I'd much rather his Strength be 9-7-6, and the weapon be SX2.

That Warlord trait is insane.

You also did math wrong-average damage is 5 for his attacks.

Oh gak yeah you’re right. There’s no 0 on a d3.
I believe the vindicare can still break weapons which is why the base strength is that high.
What would you do to the Warlord trait?

Correct-also no swearing on this forum.

He cannot. Moreover, even with the SX2, he's still stronger base than an IMPERIAL FLIPPING KNIGHT. Trust me, you'll be okay.

Get rid of the WS bit, and it should be okay, I think.

Well yeah. He is stronger than a knight. The model is bigger too. Like in the lore.

Literally twice as strong, though? No.

Wouldn't it be simpler to have his strength remain a constant 8 and have his weapons be 2x strength? You could even do something like the Striking/Sweeping versions where Sweeping doesn't double the strength or do as much damage but does more attacks. He'll cut his way through tanks and knights just as easily (and more reliably at lower wound counts), plus have better utility against hordes.

I'm not familiar with Mortarion's rules, but I'm looking at Magnus right now and I feel like the daemon primarchs should really be more or less equivalent in power, durability, etc. Obviously Angron doesn't have psychic, but having more attacks can be his distinguishing thing. Having both a 4++ and a 5+ FNP seems kinda crazy (though now that I think about it I wouldn't be surprised if you told me Morty had it). Plus only having the FNP only in melee doesn't help with the getting gunned down problem.

I'd suggest dropping the warlord trait in its current iteration, probably dropping the melee save bonus, and adding in something like "can both advance and charge" or giving a bonus to his charge roll. And you definitely shouldn't forget a Primarch aura. Maybe something like this:

Primarch of the World Eaters: You can re-roll hit rolls of 1, and any dice rolls of 1 that are made as part of a charge roll, for friendly World Eaters models within 9" of Angron. Or maybe any dice in a charge roll. You get the point.

Another trick for keeping him safe from shooting could be to increase his consolidation (and likely Heroic Intervention) distance, so when you cut through your first target that you charged you can consolidate forwards into another target to be safe (or safer, anyway) from enemy shooting in the next round.

Custom wl traits, maledictions and blessings don't exist in 8th.

Most units enter their bottom bracket at 25% rather than 27%, so 1-4.

Hierophants are bad because they cost more than 2k pts, your Angron does more damage than it in melee and would be the first daemon primarch able to fight twice.

Hierophant has 6 S:20 AP:-5 attacks that average 7 damage. So a potential of 42 damage at S:20 AP:-5 vs in Angron’s case a potential of 50 damage at S:18 AP:-3. It’s a matter of the target as to which is more destructive.
The Hierophant has 2.9* the wounds, a point of toughness, and a better save on Angron, while being 3.1* the cost.
Blessings and Maledictions along with the Warlord trait noted.
Do you mean able to survive long enough to fight twice?
