Me and my painter friend have been collecting the Salamanders chapter for 5-6 years now. But here's the thing - we chose to paint the backpacks green, rather than black, because it looks better and based on most artwork you could do either. Even the now previous codex had this picture as the painting scheme example. But the newest codex seems to be determined to to make black the only option.
So, is the green backpack completeny out of canon now? Should I have the backpacks repainted, do nothing or wait until the Salamanders supplement for clarification?

why would you paint them black now, you said that the green backpacks looks better so keep them green.
i paint my bloodangels still whit black trims and the sergeants whit black shoulderpads dont repaint them because gw
start to paind them differend in one book. they your models so paind them you like and it seems to mee you like them more whit green backpacks

Paint them however you want. When I made some deathwatch, I painted their arms black, because the GW silver arm lore thing is stupid (in my opinion)

I suppose sticking to my own style is the way to go. Black backpack seems wrong at this point. It's kinda how I want to think of my guys as being part of the overall narrative.
