Hi, I made a breakdown of ways you can run the loyal 32 for astra militarum as a practice video for potentially doing some more regular youtube tactics vids. I'm completely new to this so any C+C is greatly appreciated

You need a better microphone. First up the audio is quite quiet so I had to up the volume to hear what you were saying. Then alongside your voice there is a loud buzzing sound which is very distracting. Not sure if its the mic itself or something in the background getting picked up (computer fan if the mic is on a case?)

Your link also links to the middle of the video not the start.

You might also benefit from practising and doing a written script to read from. This can help you keep the "errs" out of the talking and also makes you more able to focus on speaking clearly and on what you are saying rather than having to think on the fly.

Also if you're doing youtube videos you need some, well, video. Right now its a podcast. You don't have to use video, you could use still photos and order them to suit what you're saying and such, but a video requires a visual element to connect with.

Cheers, that is pretty useful feedback. Will look into the audio and try and keep the script a bit tighter in future!

FIxed the link in the description.

And I guess I'm more interested in doing podcast style short tactics videos over still images, that was the format I was going for. Might try and look at cycling images through to match the different sections of the vid in future, but trying to get used to doing one thing as a time!

EDIT Just a small update - cleaned up the audio a little and made it louder. Surprising what you can do with 'Audacity' and many tutorial videos...

I think if you are talking tactics even some basic work in paint to show blocks and movement and such would help a lot. Sometimes an image says a thousand words and can help you say things clearer and with a visual element rather than having to risk losing the audience getting to heavy with the speech alone. There's still that odd buzzing in the background over your voice; though it sounds like you've worked the audio software to cut noise when you're not talking so you don't get the droning effect.

Cheers, yeah I agree a few visual prompt could help (even if just for subject headings). Maybe at a later date...

I'll probably buy a better mic at some point if I do wind up carrying on with it. cheers for the honest feedback though

Going to make some similar style ones on the new primaris units tomorrow hopefully.

Just uploaded a 2 part review of the new space marine successor chapter tactics here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SeW6dUiknvc

(ranked by most powerful in 4 tiers)

This one has the exciting development of THREE different graphics per video to accompany the audio. Hop that's not too much excitement for everyone.

Just in case anyone fancies a look I'm now two weeks on with 22 short videos and 77 subscribers. Genuinely thanks to Mr Over-read for the initial feedback, certainly made the audio better!

Here's my latest vid (a primaris aggressor review). If anyone has any advice or thoughts about how to improve further I'm all ears!

Just listening to that vid now, just a few mins in. So far I like what you are doing. Will you be doing all factions as you go ?

Also why visuals are good, I prefer if your doing podcast style to not use them unless necessary. Just a preference

On my iPad the audio sounds ok, but I listen very low.

Cheers! Yeah I've already come on a fair way I think in terms of the audio being less rubbish haha. Going to buy an actual moderately-expensive mic at some point which hopefully should improve things further...

Yeah there probs won't be any visuals aside from some explanation text and some nice pictures of the models. I'll be able to create a lot more content if I don't have to worry about that aspect at all

And yes I'll be aiming to cover as much as I can, I've been quite interested in the new space marines recently and GW have basically us tons of new options so it'll keep me occupied for quite a while. If there aren't many more big-news releases for a bit I'll be moving onto guard and knights next as they're the factions I know most about!
