For units with multiple shots: repeater handguns & crossbows and braces of pistols and the like, how many shots does 2nd rank get?
One or same as units in front rank?

follow-up question:
If it is only one (like combat) do they get multiple shot penalty?

If it can fire it at all it can fire multiple shots. These are NOT supporting attacks.
For 8th that means two ranks, you can get extras ranks when on a hill.

The decision to fire multiple shots or not is taken by the unit. To cut to the chase: if you can multi shot and it is not artillery you always mutli shot so long as the option is open to you.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

Thanks for the answer.

That sure makes a unit of 12 outriders (2 ranks of 6) powerful. Blast a whole in just about anything.

That depends on your command group options taken and the lores of magic you take.

If you want a command group, you might want this. Otherwise it is recommended you take two squadrons of six.
If you prefer a lore of magic that has a nice augment you can use on your Outriders, and you want to use it for this purpose, so be it. Otherwise it is recommended you take two squadrons of six.

Yeah take 2 or 3x12 combined with crossbowmen and war machines.
