I want to make a reliquary for my custom (Blood Angels successor) chapter. I have planned the model (haven't put it together yet), which will contain a small mound of enemy skulls (topped by a daemon skull) in which a power sword topped by the helmet of a heroic champion will be embedded.

I would like this relic/monument to be an actual part of my force, serving as inspiration to friendly units.

I welcome any suggestions/recommendations with regards to how many points I would accord this item and the kind of rules I could apply to it which would be reasonable/acceptable to most people. My humble army is only <500pts atm.

Thanks.

For the Emperor and Sanguinius!

Sounds like an interesting concept.

Disclaimer - I'm prone to overload things with rules!

I'd have it as so:

A Relic which can be used for 2 purposes.

Option 1: as a weapon used by a character, with some moderate but not overpowered capabilities.

Option 2: As an objective, which must be placed in your deployment zone. All of your units have objective secured for this objective, overruling any enemy units rules to this effect, and can reroll charge distance if charging an enemy unit which is within 6" of this objective.

We have enough aura type things in the game, but by adding an objective only you can really control (unless you're killed off of it) you add an element to the game which, currently, is missing - affecting the mission itself.

Thanks for the ideas - think I prefer the objective idea to the weapon one (love special weapons, but that's not what I intended this to be).

Re-roll all failed hit rolls within 36" for 5 pts. Hmmm, maybe that's too weak, re-roll failed charge rolls as well, board-wide and it cannot be destroyed. Have fun not following the codex-astartes!

Blood Angels DO follow the codex...

Indeed - what sort of bastard would want to use their codex?

Only as much as they desire, the Death Company, the Sanguinary Guard and Sanguinary Priesthood is heresy enough to a degree that all their ammunition has softened and their blades dulled. How else would you explain their worse AP to their codex-compliant counterparts? OP you could also use the rules for White Scars instead of Blood Angels when you use the Reliquary, I'm sure that'll give a boost to the effectiveness of your units!

Wouldn't this be a good situation to just take the Imperial Statue or whatever it's called? You know. That cheap "fortification" that buffs imperial units standing near it? If the goal is to have the reliquaries presence be really inspiring for your forces, then the statue's rules seem spot on.

ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

Blood Angels Statuary - PL 2 - 30 pts

When a model targets an enemy INFANTRY unit that has all of its models within 3" of Blood Angels Statuary, the target unit receives the benefit of cover if the shooting model is closer to the Blood Angels Statuary than it is to the target and the target is at least partially obscured from the point of view of the shooting model. In addition, BLOOD ANGELS units add 1 to their Leadership characteristic whilst they are within 3" of any Blood Angels Statuary. For the purpose of this rule, BLOOD ANGELS includes any Blood Angels successor chapters.

Exactly the kind of thing I was looking for. Thank you!
