This isn't a bad idea, esp as KS tend to hang around for a while as they fund and are not "normal" news like regular new models.

Even once the companies go into mainstream that tends to be better to put into a separate set of news posts. Plus it might actually make it easier to get attention for various KS if they have their own section.

Putting them in their own section would get them less attention, not more.

In general, unless volume is overwhelming to the point where stuff is missed due to being pushed off the page too quickly, splitting a forum almost always results in less traffic overall.

Yes, there are quite a few Kickstarters in N&R... but that's because this is how many companies do new releases now, and that's unlikely to change any time soon. Removing them from the N&R section seems inherently counter-productive.
