Looking for some critique on my first death guard list, based around the dark imperium contents. I'm not looking to be super competitive, just a fun list which isn't totally broken for playing against a friend. I have already bought and built everything other than the Terminators, Helbrute and Crawler.

Looks like a fun list, your Malignant Plague Caster gets one more Psychic power, I would recommend Putrescent Vitality or Miasma of Pestilence. For a lot of fun, find a spot for a Foul Blightspawn, that character is just a hoot to play with.

Thanks for that, I'll take a closer look at the blightspawn. I'm wondering whether to drop the helbrute and one of the bloat drones for a contemptor and a blight-hauler... I'm reading the contemptor is a much better choice than the 'brute and the blight-hauler is clearly designed as fire support for the plague marines?

The fun thing about the Death Guard is there are so many ways to build a list for them, I like to take Typhus, a winged Daemon Prince, 40 pox walkers and all the Daemon Engibnes I can get, Plagueburst Crawlers, Myphitic Blighthaulers, Foetid Blot drones, and run essentially a Mechanized Army with poxwalkers as infantry.

My buddy who plays Death Guard as well, loves to bring a lot of Plague Marines riding around in Rhinos and deep strike Blightlord terminators.

Well I originally went for things that were cheap to buy as I don't have much cash to sink into the army, so scooped up some extra bloat drones and was eyeing up a helbrute from the Dark Vengeance set on eBay. The termies and the crawler are the only things in my list that cost any significant amount, but I'm now tempted to see if I can pick up a plastic contemptor for vaguely sensible money... typhus and a prince are definitely on the wish list for the future but as I had HQ options from Dark Imperium I started with those (the terminator lord will be a lord of contagion conversion using some bits from the terminators box).

Smart way to get started with Death Guard, the Dark Imperium set is very much worth it and you can find bloat drones and pox walkers from that set on sale on ebay all the time.
