So during this unfortunate pandemic, were all back to the parents house getting away from the city, in which my brother and I have started to play a wide variety of old school games (after working during the day). It's tough to sell 40k to him but agreed and picked a quick easy Mission out of the Claw and Tooth Set #2 Monster Slayer. (Redemptor Dreadnaught vs 1 Abominant & 5 Aberrants - that can return in morale phases.)

Now when playing as each model is individual of does the D6 shot allocation work? I have it in my mind you declare all your shots beforehand and then start to roll everything (meaning the weapon will fire at the one declared target since in this case everything is individually treated), or is it you roll for the D6 then start allocating, saying 2 into him, 1 into him, 3 in him, ete. It's just the Marco Plasma Incinerator I'm worried about screwing up the game. If it's roll then allocate to whom you are firing, if you get 6 theres a good change you can clear the board with the cannon with good die rolls. I feel with bigger game (eternal war, maelstrom) you are usually putting a D6 weapon into a group with a lot of troops, so the allocating is a lot less.

Anyway let me know thanks.

Any given ranged weapon can only target ONE enemy unit.

If you have two guns, you can target two units, one with each gun.

Random shots does not change that.

As stated, a single weapon cannot target multiple units. As an attacker, you only target units with your weapons. Once you've rolled for shots, to hit and to wound verses a unit, the defender then allocates those wounds to models and attempts to make saves.
