To make the DDA more effective and a little versatile I suggest the following.

DDA cannon firing mode. If firing a full power shot with a DDC at full power, the firing player can opt to fire in either blast or AP mode. Blast functions as normal, AP mode fires without the blast option but can reroll any result less than 3,counting any result less than 3 as 3, making it more effective against tanks and monsters.

All shots fired must be in the same mode.

Personally. I think it should roll 2 dice for number of shots if it stays still and just have 1 dice roll if it moves. Remove low power all together.

If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced.

My 'cron collection is limited and barely includes vehicles, so please forgive my ignorance. Isn't the doomsday ark already one of the more powerful and popular necron units though? Is a buff needed?

ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

The DDA has to roll for # of shots and damage per shot, and had 1d6 dam per shot. So a bad roll on # of shots can make it relatively ineffective.

The necrons now have a new unit that does 3d3 dam per shot and is a tank killer. It's minimum damage is 3, which a dda will score less than 1/3 of the time. It's average damage is 6, which a dda only gets 1/6 of the time.

A DDA is a very unreliable tank killer. Also with the new 3d3 heavy destroyer killing weapon the DDA faces becoming a unit that is very difficult to justify taking like the monolith was in 8e.

Of course GW may want that, since most people who will have them already bought them, so make it a very dubious choice to push more grey crack.

Making it a more variable weapon, as in the choice between blast and AP mode and making it's minimum damage 3 would keep it more relevant.

Yes. This. Simple, doesn't change how the unit functions. Adds some reliability.

Also i think the DDC as is has always violated the holy WYSIWYG rule. I mean it's freaking enormous, complex and supposedly mde by the most advanced tech race in the universe, it should have some serious wallop instead of rolling 1 shot for 1 damage point.

Hell, I'd settle for making it 2d3 on shots and damage. But i still like the idea of a variable mode that can target vehicles or area effect differently.
