Hi I have been thinking of building an exodite killteam.

1 defender guardian
1 heavy weapon platform
1 ranger
1 scorpion exarch
1 howling banshee exarch
1 dire avenger exarch
2 dire avengers

So, my idea for guardian defender is to use the torso of a Eternal Guard model with the legs/arms/helm of a regular guardian.

The HWP would be a cold one with weapon mounted on.. not exactly sure which tank parts to use to blend.

Dire avengers - same kind of deal but with Vanari Auralan Wardens & use the plumes of from their helms!

Thoughts so far? What model mixes could I use to get the others?

You could also hunt around for some OOP HE bits and pieces. Shadow warrior heads work nice IMO.

Also tau legs are great if you transplant the feet as well as various DE wytch stuff..

I'm building an entire Exodite army, can confirm the shadow warrior torsos and heads work well with guardian legs and arms. Eternal guard are much more difficult because the bodies aren't split at the waist, they're split up the middle, so torso front with one leg and torso back with the other leg. I'm keeping the legs on those and just adding arms to make exodite waywatchers (rangers).

I'm also using the Vanari Auralan Wardens, but I'm making them into warlock equivalents. You should bear in mind that the triangular scale mail at the armpits are often attached to the arm rather than the torso, so if you're keeping that part of the design, you may have to greenstuff the scale mail back on once you've put new arms on, or find some way of removing it from the arms.

The HWP, I've seen other people do similar things with the cold one, it just depends how you want to mount it. I've seen the weapon mounted on the back and to be honest, I've always thought that looked a bit awkward. They might look better side-slung, but then you'd need something on the other side of the cold one to balance it out. Because I'm creating my own unique units and codex, I'm not bothering with HWPs and I'm keeping the cold ones for jetbikes and shining spears type troops.

Suggestions for other models:

The obvious choice for banshees would be the witch aelves, but scorpions may be more difficult. It all depends what kind of aesthetic you want to go for for them. The current scorpion sword arms are obviously easy enough to attach to other torsos, though the scorpion shuriken pistol arms would need carefully cutting off the body. For the banshees, I've seen people use the hair from the witch aelf and attach it to drukhari scourge helmets and I think that looks pretty good. The bodies and arms might need fairly substantial greenstuffing, though, again depending on the aesthetic you're going for.

I'm interested to see what you come up with - I'm not above stealing other people's good ideas for my own exodite army!

Sisters of the Watch with Harlequin sword arms would work as Banshees. Maybe with Sister of Slaughter masked heads (although AFAIK exodites don't have the same psychological need to wear masks in combat that craftworlders do).

A little bit of righteous anger now and then is good, actually. Don't trust a person who never gets angry.

I’ve come up with another idea too!

Scorpion exarch:

Mixing the Light of Eltharion with Karadras. In particular, the head of karadras on that body, while cutting and splicing to fit his arms/legs into the armour of Eltharion. It would look super badass and in theme!

Sisters of the watch is a cool idea I hadn’t considered! Banshee head then?

I think the whole 'mask wearing' is more of a metaphorical thing. The war mask they 'wear' while fighting is in order to shield their more peaceful personas while on their craftworlds. It's like compartmentalising the violent part of their psyche due to the extremes of emotion they're subject to in order to protect themselves from the trauma of violence in their everyday lives. I don't think they literally need to wear masks to achieve that, although it does probably help.

Exodites are better able to deal with the extremes of emotion because their everyday lives are much more harsh and divert their attention away from memories of battle and violence. They're also somewhat less psychic than craftworlders (though not as much as Drukhari), so their more extreme emotions are less likely to cause psychic shock to themselves and others.

Light of Eltharion/Karandras sounds like an interesting idea, though getting the legs and arms in there sounds super complicated. I'd be really interested to see what you come up with with that.

Attached photos of my Night Watch conversions using Shadow Warriors/Sisters of the Watch torsos and guardian legs. You can see the female squad leader uses banshee sword and pistol arms and they work pretty well imo.

Another possibility is using idoneth deepkin Namarti Reavers. They have really cool dynamic poses.

^^ Yeah, the "war mask" is mostly a dissociative state and doesn't physically need the actual mask, although the prop does aid in this a little. As does the donning of war-paint in some shrines.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.
