I wasn't sure about where to put this so eh, i went here.

Does gw make all its products in the UK?

No, they make stuff in China too. Terrain, some models for AoS, I think they printed books there too at some time.

The china production is not really theirs, but third party suppliers.

I think it is those buildings and spell thingies. But that is just what I was told, so there is a chance it is 100% false.

No, you're right - just checked my (UK bought) "Endless Spells: Slaves to Darkness" and the box says made in China.

Well, they seem to have shifted book production to the UK from China during 2020. Everything I've seen since 9th dropped has said 'Printed by Westdale in the UK' rather than the 20??-2019 period, which was printed by X/Y/Z in China (there were 2 or 3 printing companies that did GW books, though I believe C&C was the most common, though Apol is on my Gloomspite book). The exception is the Warcry Core rules, which was also Westdale.

Efficiency is the highest virtue.

The Imperial Armour Compendium is C&C in China (or at least my copy is).

They used to have a metal foundry in Memphis, but that closed down a little while before the switch to 'Fine'cast, IIRC.

There has never been a GW factory of any kind in Oz.

The majority of GW's plastic products are made in Nottingham at their HQ site (also the same place that Forgeworld makes all their stuff). From what I've gathered they own under their own company directly (not sure if its all under the same roof) everything from design all the way through to mould production and plastic casting. All is done in-house.

However they also outsource abroad (often china) for things such as cardstock, card printing, books (some, I believe there's also a large portion printed in the UK by a different firm) and some plastics. The plastics are typically things like Endless Spells and terrain features and you can sort of tell that the quality and plastic is a little different on them to GWs normal models.

Indeed sometimes hints of what's coming have been found from shipping manifestoes published online which show the stock coming over - things like new cards, terrain features and such.

So for many of your models the model itself comes from the UK and is packed in the UK; however the box it is in was likely made and shipped from china.

I believe GW has considered buying their own card and printing machines and such, but have not yet invested in that direction.
Note that GW is a firm that doesn't carry debt, so all their expansions are paid for by what the company earns. They just completed a big upgrade of a new factory at Nottingham on the same site as well as a new larger warehouse at another location (my understanding being that the larger warehouse and factory would allow them growing room as well as the capacity to produce and ship more in shipment blocks for overseas markets). OF course Corona scuppered many of those plans somewhat.
