After a few years break I felt like painting miniatures again, and gaming ofcourse. The Carcharodons Astra have been an interesting Chapter to me for years. Having consumed all books about them I was pretty up to date on the lore and decided they will be my army. The main inspiration for how they look in the universe (in my mind) came from the cover art of the book, Red Tithe. I wanted to give my bunch their own lore and background.

The robes are sculpted from milliput and greenstuff. The helmets and shoulders are from Liber Daemonica. In the lore, the Carcharodons scavenge and mix and match power armour to the extent that no armour is the same and all are heavily worn down as resupply is not given. This gave me some nice leeway with equipment and the looks of the armour. I went for a grim dark look, and wanted the armour to look like ceramite, and not steel or something. I weathered the armour to be consistent with the tone of the base, adding some brown and reddish hue to it. The bases are made from cork slabs, diamond textured plasticard, chain and some random MDF ruin I ripped to pieces. I also used some Vallejo Pigment and your basic wall filler to create the base texturing. And of course, since it's Carcharodons Astra, there needs to be blood. Hope you like them, more to come.

Thanks for your kind words mates, appreciate it. Noticed now with fresh eyes that the sheer amount of light blasted at the models for the photos has kinda eliminated the shading from the faces completely, will have to get that captured better next time.

After a stupendous armywide conversion- and assembly chore, I finally got a new unit painted. Ingame it acts as a Ravenwing Apothecary/Chaplain depending on my list. Built a magnetized Crozius and a smaller base incase my opponent has his day ruined otherwise. Continuing with the battledamaged grimdark look.

Looks good, really grimdark and bordering on chaos all the way.
