Did you start this thread to talk about politics?
Actually, riggy, i was curious about the new system. I remember the old one being a monster in terms of chargen that could take hours to create a character with literally 1,000 points to spend on a long list of things. Several long lists of things actually.
of course you could create an utterly unique character, but not easily.
From what i now see, chargen is somewhat streamlined with multiple templates, the option to switch redundant skills around, points buy options, ads and disads, plus some other options. Still an involved process but a lot of the
"HTF do i spend a thousand points and keep track of them all?!?!" has been simplified quite nicely.
(Oddly enough it's quite easy to spend and track 1k points in
wh40k, but when it's all on customizing a single
rpg character it's another matter altogether.)
Speaking politically the game admits it's got a lot of political factions and in some ways it does reflect real words politics. The authors leanings are not hard to discern, the remark about thinking antifascists everywhere was something i just came across in the credits almost accidentally and just confirmed what i'd guessed. I'm ok with the game's tone.
I see that certain mods are limited to a maximum of 5, so that reduces the "hunt for what minor issues i have that might give me a mod" issue.
The Async class is a bit less of a white elephant now, with a few major issues being alleviated or outright dropped.
The weapons still feel a bit generic, but there is plenty of gear.
it's still not a game for amateur
rpg players and gms, and a very odd setting that is not too well represented in film and tv yet, but all in all worth a look over.
I'm still looking for an answer to a question about The Lost characters but it seems hard to get one.
