This reminds me that I have to watch the first movie.

Venom was a fun movie, even if the tone of the title character was a bit strange. They seem to have doubled down on it for the sequel. There were a couple of movies all released at the same time which had similar concepts: Venom, Bloodshot and Upgrade, with Venom being the best (only good one?) of the three.
Yeaaaaah, it was weird enough to see a Venom movie without Spiderman being the backdrop of his story. Now we're moving onto Carnage? The guy who made Spidey and Venom team up to stop him? Except we just have Venom? I still think they should have kept Venom as a Spider-Man rogue that eventually turns anti-hero BEFORE they do anything remotely Carnage related. But alas, Hollywood demands its franchise blood.
On the plus side, rumor has it that Sony Japan is watching the performance of the non MCU spidy movies (venom, morbius, black and silver) and if they under perform supposedly they will force sony America to sell Spidy back to Disney.
Good. Best thing that can happen. I refuse to pay for any of these movies to help that along.
These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

God I hope so. Though tbh, I feel like a big chunk of Sony has slowly become more Americanized so let's hope Sony Japan has enough internal clout still to push them to make that deal if worst comes to worst.
I didn't watch the first one. I thought a movie with Edie Brock without Spider-man made no sense to me. I am not even a huge Spider-man fan. I actually dislike Peter Parker a lot as a character. His Villains though, especially Venom and Carnage though, rank among some of my favorites in the whole genre.
But it still makes 100% no sense to have a movie with them and not Spider-man. I was even hoping the first one did well enough that they might think about Venom in the MCU and getting Spidey involved. But no, they doubled down on it. How is this story arc even going to work without Spider-man? Clearly they are going with Maximum Carnage pretty faithfully, as Kasady is back in Ravenloft and you can clearly see Shriek is prominent in the trailer. Who is going to team up with Venom? He didn't do it on his own. I don't think they are going to bring in Morbius. This is confusing me the more I think about it.

I really, really loathe that bloke. And his band are rubbish too.
Whoever made the decision to put that walking disaster in the movie, had to do so with intentions of tanking it. There is no way they did not know about his antics on the set of Joker. Then decided to put him in another superhero movie.
So I liked the first one, but what i liked most was the main character talking to himself. The action at this point is just boring in a super hero film. Sadly the trailer seems to be maximising what I didn't like and minimising what I did.

Yes, the portions where Eddie Brock is having schizoid conversations with himself (Venom) where what made this movie. Tom Hardy does those parts well. Frankly Tom Hardy wandering around just having conversations with himself would be a preferable movie.
Of course he kind of did that in Legend didn't he, when he was playing the one borther that kind of talked to himself. Man that was a good movie, need to watch it again.
-"Wait a minute.....who is that Frazz is talking to in the gallery? Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG
