I've made the mistake of watching some bloke on YouTube make a textured battle map and thought I could do it too.

I bought a 6x4 drop sheet and covered it in caulk, then I sprayed it with watered down PVA and covered it in sand.

So far the sand has stuck, but bits are flaking off so I don't know if it will hold on the long run.

Does anyone have any tips on what I could do to try and improve it or stop the sand coming off? I probably put too many layers on. I may try covering any white patches with a mix of caulk and sand.

When one goes, one must go with style.

Spray it with watered down PVA again, it'll soak in between the sand and stick it down better.

Did you use painters caulk (the cheapest one) or a semi flexible caulk. I’m not familiar with non North American brands but for example DAP Alex is an acrylic painters caulk and DAP Dynaflex is a flexible. A non flexible caulk would probably be more prone to flaking but I can’t be sure as obviously this is an off label application.

You see, to Auston, everyone is a Death Star; there's only one way you can take it and that's through a small gap at the back.
