The solitaire is going to face a different opponent in independent duels, how would he fare against each of them? Who would the solitaire beat and who would lose to him?

Note: Due to the sheer OPness of the solitaire’s war gear, each opponent below has access to their best melee weapons, power weapons included, but no grenades. However, only Dante is allowed to use a gun.

[Custodes]

Valerian

Valoris

[Chapter Masters]

Calgar

Helbrecht

Probably loses or draws against anyone with a name. Solitaires are cool, but their plot armor isn't as thick as a named character's. Though Phoenix Lords (including Drazhar) and Lucius might be exceptions due to their ressurectable nature functionally thinning their plot armor. Call it a coin toss against PLs and Lucius.

And then that just leaves the Swarmlord whom I give him favorable odds against because the swarmlord is both ressurectable and semi-personality-less/semi-unnamed. I give the solitaire about a 75% chance of winning against the swarmlord anda 10% chance of killing the swarmlord but dying in the process.

And if you think I'm being too meta in my logic, remember that harlequins are frequently depicted as being a couple quick steps away form vaulting over the fourth wall. I think the story teller elf might agree with me.

Its a Xenos and will therefore lose to any Imperium character. Lucius comes back if the opponent takes even a notion of any satisfaction/joy/pride in the killing of Lucius and considering one of the BL books has him take over the body of a munitions plant worker it might not even be that. Kharn is a force of nature and as of yet I can't think of any time post-Heresy he's been killed.
You picked 4 phoenix Lords and 2 of them are gunlords then said no guns. Hardly playing to their abilities are they.

Ah...thank you for pointing out how the GW creative team works.
That aside, Maugan Ra was just too OP with his weapon, had to nerf him somehow. How about the other characters? How would a solitaire fare against them?

Poorly, they're all named characters, that's how the lore goes. The biggest issue with doing any sort of VS battle is that each and every codex entry of a unit/character will say how brilliant they are and have that unit/character beat units/characters from other codexes.

Plus, if you're looking for CQC duels don't pick characters that are gun characters then just take their guns away because "it's OP". Try not to apply in-game rules and data to the lore because it doesn't hold up.

Solitare's are not invincible monsters, they are skilled, yes, but not an army on their own. I don't think one would beat any of the above in a fight (but would probably put up a good fight before dying though).

In Psychic Awakening, one was killed fighting Shalaxi Helbane, and there was a few other eldar heroes in the mix.

Why not, I’m not doing anything right now. Here’s vs. Drazhar.

Solitaire with Blitz goes first, using Harlequin’s Caress. So that’s 11 attacks hitting on 2s and wounding on 3s. AP -2 means 4++ save. All together that’s 3.06 damage out of 6. Edit: made him Frozen Stars for +1 attack.

Drazhar hits back with the single blade (dual blades get pretty similar results). 5 attacks hitting on 2s and wounding on 2s with a +1 to wound that’s not even being used. AP doesn’t matter since the Solitaire has a 3++. That’s 3.47 damage out of 5. Then Drazhar gets to fight again.

And vs. Lelith.

Solitaire with Blitz goes first again, so 11 attacks hitting on 3s this time, using the Kiss instead as it makes more sense, so wounding on 3s and AP doesn’t matter because 4++. 4.89 damage out of 5. That could do it.

If Lelith is still alive, or if she goes first, it’s 7 attacks, hitting on 2s full rerolls and each 6 is an additional 3 hits. Wounding on 3s with full rerolls and again AP doesn’t matter because 3++. 3.26 damage out of 5. So Lelith could die on the first turn, but if she survives then she gets to go first next time, in which case she wins.

One more, vs. Abaddon.

Blitzed Solitaire charges in again, using the Caress. 11 attacks, hits on 2s, wounds on 4s, AP -2 means 4++. 2.29 out of 8 wounds gone.

Abaddon sneers, giving him 7 attacks, hitting on 2s with rerolls, strength 10 so wounding on 2s, vs. 3++. So Talon of Horus doing 3.78 damage out of 5. Then Drach’nyen with an extra D6 attacks(simplifying) hitting on 2s with rerolls, still wounding on 2s. 2.84 damage, which is enough to kill. I was honestly expecting Abaddon to mess him up more.

Starting to think the Solitaire is not meant for taking on characters.

Last one. Vs. Ahriman.

Harlequin blah blah 11 attacks, hits on 2s wounds on 3s, Ahriman is warlord so 3++. 2.38 damage out of 5.

Ahriman casts Death Hex. Then 5 attacks, hit on 2s rerolling 1s, wound on 2s, AP -1 means no save. 12.15 damage.

Wow, although I’m not a tabletop guy, I could see you really put some effort in it. Kudos on that.
However, it’s fluff battle, so how would this solitaire anonymous fare against each combatant?

Oops. Well that Shalaxi Helbane fight was over embarrassingly quick, so probably pretty badly for most of those. Although now that I’m thinking about it, I don’t think I’ve read that many things where a Solitaire shows up.
