Hi. Can someone kindly recommend which citadel paints to use for painting shields? What is a good metal paint and a good paint for wood?

I love my son and daughter. The avatar is of me and my daughter when she was very young. I miss her to death! |

My go-to for shields is Mournfang brown from citadel, with Gunmetal from the army painter for the rim/boss. Leadbelcher is citadel's equivalent.
I go over it with a dark-brown wash like agrax earthshade, and will sometimes do a highlight with a brighter silver.
Hope this helps!

This is about what I do as well. Sometimes I mix up the brown just to add variety. Might add a little nuln oil to the metal to bring out things like nails/rivets.

I would first have to ask what shields you are painting. Going at a 40k Storm Shield is incredibly different from going at a AoS Skaven shield.
But for the most part, a base metal in whatever tone you're looking for should work the same as for any other metal the model is wearing. And wood is best done with a color close to the type of wood you want covered in a brown wash like Aggrax Earthshade.

Best wood paint I have seen is contrast paint with wood on the name. Works great!

Yeah. You can even work in other colours before hand like some green if you want it to look older.

I just use silver for everything and apply washes over it to get whatever tones I want. Personally, I'd use Gw's stormhost silver and then whatever oil paint or enamel or even contrast paint you want to make them whatever color you desire.
