Here is my Shadowkeepers Cohort of The Talons of the Emperor. Painted , based, and now all 100% individually named. I love this army so damn much.

Before you ask - yes I know it’s insane to have this many Custodes! The reason is as an adult I stopped caring about buying meta, tournament winning armies and then selling them. It kinda left me salty and angry about not owning an army. When custodes came out in 7th (with that Talons box) - I picked it up thinking I will never sell them and this could be a small army. Lo and behold 8th rolls around and makes them a legit army and I basically started collecting them slowly…. 4 years later this is the end result! So basically I will never sell this army and I am collecting more (aka Blade champion in December oooooooo) to this day.

I should mention that the nameplates are from Versatile Terrain. I would 100% recommend to check em out (don’t worry I’m not sponsored lol). Great custom designs, great fonts, and you can add symbols which is awesome. Also they having a sale now… so… hint hint wink wink…

If you guys are interested I’ve been posting my models on my Instagram - @Cuban_painting_minis

Anyways enjoy
Bonus Points if you can find the ONE MODEL that does not have a nameplate (it was the one nameplate that came broken - VT replaced it for free but its in transit lol )

Wow, that is a prodigious amount of models and work! Congrats on doing them all in a unique scheme.

The nameplates really suit the army.

Thanks

It looks like a lot.... ok it is a lot .... but I thankfully collected it slowly enough over the years that the buildup was not as massive as it looks. Plus COVID quarantine absolutely helped with clearing basically 100% of my backlog of miniatures that I had! I absolutely love the nameplates though - I have them on my Titanicus and Battlefleet Gothic ships (I will post them in the future), and when I had the crazy thought of naming every Custodes for the army I was thinking I was nuts....

...lo and behold now...

Wow that is incredible! Amazing collection. I really love the chain and what I think is a lantern hanging off the Achillus Dread. The nameplates are gorgeous as well, did you handmake each one?

Omg thanks - yeah the lantern is also free floating so it moves with the dread - makes it so cool on the battlefield lol!

As for the nameplates I did not hand make them. They are 100% done by the website Versatile Terrain. Before I go on my rant - I’m no way am I affiliated with them nor am I sponsored. With that outta the way - holy crap they are awesome! They have custom plates for all sizes, custom fonts, custom symbols, plus you can always email him to customize more - customer service is amazing and they have a sale going on now too. While you may thank me for the info - I am sure your bank is cursing me out right now

Thanks for the tip on Versatile Terrain, I took a look at their website and there are a ton of options available. Do you remember what size and type your ordered for your dudes?

Oh and do you remember what kit you got the lantern from? I'd love to try something similar with my Achillus someday

Absolutely gobsmacking and amazing. You truly do the Emperor proud with your collection and fantastic work in individualizing every model. I also really like that you went for a more gritty colour scheme rather than the typical plain gold. 2 green Ork thumbs up!

Don't know which is more impressive; painting all of that so well or coming up with a unique name for each model.

Of course! I got the normal nameplates (recesswd or whatever), with gothic font and the aquilla symbol. For the captains I think it is called fully loaded. Every base has the 90degree arc cut into it - not for any gameplay reason but rather because it looked cool. The lantern… or emperor… I want to say it’s from the basing set for large titanic models (sector Imperialis basing?) and I just cut that lantern off the street light. I added the skull and the chain from some necklace or trinket and voila!

Thank you! Yeah the color scheme I came up with years ago! I didn’t like the typical gold, and I absolutely loved the 30k Shadowkeeper scheme but hated black lol. So I came up with the idea to literally invert the colors - instead of being gold with silver trim, make it silver with gold trim. Still have Shadowkeeper but I think it gives a nice vibe!

As a history teacher… I may or may not have… borrowed … historical names from Roman, Greek, and Germanic history
