So I'm getting ready to start a new Imperial HotAC campaign. One of my favorite ships from old EU was the TIE Avenger. I got a mini from Mel's Minatures and I am working on how best to make it fit without being OP. I envision the Avenger to be a mix of speed/arc dodger, hence the red evade. It's maneuverability comes from it's speed.

I'm thinking of 2 potential configurations.

1) loose missile slot, equip a tractor beam or jamming beam for free. After attacking with an equipped cannon weapon (the beams) vs a target you have locked, you may preform a primary attack against that target, you may not spent you TL this turn.

2) Loose tech/sensor slot. Hard 1's become white, any bank may be treated as a red sengor's loop.

That dial looks crippling.

I would drop that tech slot, as that was generally envisioned to be for Sequel era ships, and just change the hard 3 and soft 3 to a blue, and change the soft 2 to a white.

Allows it to feel different than the other TIE variants you put copies of the dials up for.

The TIE Avenger was my favorite from the old Xwing/TIE games on msdos but I was never brave enough to cut up my Advanced to make some custom, lol. It's cool that you were able to find some.

For those who had no idea what HotAC is (hint: it's not an air conditioning tabletop sim), it's apparently a campaign system for the FFG X-wing games.

I cut up a TIE Advanced to make an Avenger once...

Got partway through the reassembly and realised that I wasn't happy. Bought a new TIE Advanced and then an Avenger off Shapeways.

Lesson learnt.

I printed out all of the original HotAC stuff and being as I never bothered to make the move to 2.0, I think that I'd better stick with that. What's the state of HotAC these days? Did people pick up the reins and develop more stuff for it? I like the idea of an Imperial version of it.

There is a pretty active community on Facebook where they have updated it for 2.0. You can find all the stuff for 1st and 2nd Here. On the FB page people have made AI cards for additions ships (TIE Brute, Gunboat, etc...) and I personally made and uploaded pilot cards that removed all the blank spots that were bothering me
