Got a weird armylist idea and really would like to give this a try:
2000P JORMUNGANDR
Adaptive: Naturalised Camouflage
CP: 5
PATROL:
HQ: flying hive tyrant (Bonesword and whip, adrenal glands) - WL: Adaptive biology (feel no pain 5+)
HQ:Neurothrope - Extra WLT: Synaptic tendrils
TR: 3 warriors
EL: 6 Tyrant Guard (Adrenal glands, swords and whip)
EL: Maleceptor
PATROL:
HQ: flying hive tyrant (Bonesword and whip, adrenal glands) - The reaper of obliterax (relic)
TR: 10 termagaunts
EL: 5 Tyrant Guard (Adrenal glands, swords and whip)
PATROL:
HQ: flying hive tyrant (Bonesword and whip, adrenal glands)- Dirgeheart of kharis (extra relic) Extra WLT: Alien Cunning
TR: 10 termagaunts
EL: 3 Tyrant Guard (Swords and whip)
TR: Tyrannocyte + 5x Deathspitter +Synaptic enhancement
TACTICS:
Jormungandr adaptation: count as dense cover outside 12 inch (-1 to hit)
extra adaptive: extra +1 save in cover
First turn: Maleceptor possible -1 Strenght against shooting
So these tyrant guard got a 2+ save with 2 bonus saves if the are standing in cover. Who needs invulnerable saves!
First turn I can drop a Tyrannocyte with 6 tyrant guard mid field and cast the catalyst on them. The Hive tyrants fly towards these tyrant guards for protection and get ready for the next turn for an all out assault.
Possible moves:
boomerang Hive tyrant with the reaper of obliterax: fly towards the enemy, kill everything and use the 'Overrun stratagem' to move back towards the tyrant guard for protection.
The reaper of obliterax is sick!: Every wound is a +1 mortal wound and every attack allocated to a enemy unit cannot prevent wounds. Mortal wounds are also attacks/wounds that cannot get prevented. If this is the case then this model can remove 3 custodus bikes in one go!
With lashwhip (reroll 1 to hit), Pincer Tail (reroll 1 hit or wound) and extra stratagem upgrades (+d3 attacks, reroll to wound, extra mortal wounds after charging...)
Hive tyrant with dirgeheart and alien cunning can switch off objective secured and got objective secured itself. I use this one for objectives grabbing/blocking. It can also use the dirgeheart relic, ' the horror' and the psychothropic venom stratagem to give an enemy unit -5 leadership and -2 on the attrition test.
Tyrannocyte: this is a synaptic creature (upgrade) and can shoot at a target. 'Shard lure' stratagem give any tyranid unit +d6 charge (pick the two highest) against that enemy unit.
Neurothrope: can use 'warp siphon' twice so it can use it to give itself 3xd6 and pick two, for it's psychic powers and do the same for the maleceptor. Neurothrope tries to cast catalyst and onslaught with synaptic link. Maleceptor can use it for the -1 strenght against ranged, psychic action.
Questions:
I got 175 points left and i dunno what to pick. should I invest heavy on the tyrant guards or pick something else? Maybe a exocrine?
I got Jormungandr for the -1 to hit but i feel leviathan is better. With leviathan I cannot get the extra adeptive 'naturalised camouflage' so I would lose the +2 save in terrain for the tyrant guard. But with leviathan my Hive tyrant would all get the 'only wounded on 4+' upgrade. But i could also give this to a single hive tyrant with stratagem. this is difficult...
I think this would be a nice armylist to counter custodus, tau and harlequin voidweaver lists.
would like some input..
