As you attached it directly to a post, I have to manually copy the url and put it in image tags, which often shows it at a smaller size for some reason.
If you manually upload to the gallery and use the forum link from there, you can choose the size and it'll carry over to the post.

Thanks!
A lot of really nice entries this month, It's been a while since I've entered a contest but I've been voting (irregularly) in the background anyway. Particularly liked Freya's Typhus, QAR's kakophoni, Maharg's goblin fanatic and DV8's Green Goblin, but I gave out quite a few more votes than that.
Well done to everyone!

I noticed that, voted for quite a few, but I think my favourite is Freya’s Typhus for all the colourful fungi stuff in the background.

I don't know how I never noticed that before. You mean I could have been giving myself pity votes while voting for the ones I actually like?
Seriously though, It's always been hard to pick from the top 3-5, so I'm happy to find out I don't have to now. And honestly, I've always wondered how I ever got any votes beyond someone just liking my model or scheme choice, now it makes sense.

The very first vote was just pick one, but we switched to this system right after that.
I generally try to keep myself to around 5 votes, but it fluctuates. Often they go to not the technically best painted work, but to those that fit the theme better, most improved painters, people trying out new techniques, or whim.

It's been a while since I left some comments, so....
SergentSilver: That's a nice colour scheme. Is it a homebrew chapter? KidCthulhu: The warm oranges and cool blues on this contrast nicely, and the pale base doesn't distract from the model. Freya: Typhus is really good, especially the rust effects and the NMM on the scythe. The multicoloured bugs are an unusual choice, but they contrast nicely with the main figure. theCrowe: The eyes and fur texture came out well. Mothsniper: I like the colour palette you've chosen for these. The minotaur's face is particularly good. Captain Brown: A nice alternative to the usual red. I like the blue spot colour on the trousers too. Nevelon: Good use of the spot colours on the mouthparts. Snail22: The monochrome scheme looks dramatic, while the spot colours keep it colourful. Geifer: Nice work on the varied greens. queen_annes_revenge: Excellent all round. JoshinJapan: The paint scheme works well to tie them together as a unit. Are the unusual bases standard for these miniatures? TheLastTemplar: The freehand heraldry is very good. Vejut: I like how colourful these are. Maharg: Nice and neat. Arakasi: The stripey hoses are a nice detail. DV8: Really good work. I like the face in particular. Viterbi: A good solid paint job.inmygravenimage: That exploding base looks very dynamic. Midget Gems: Nice glow effect on the globes. CancelledApocalypse: Really good detail work on the face. The warm off-white suit is also good. Turaxa: My Ohmu has obvious seam lines, and I ran out of time to make a base for it. Still, I am pleased with how the eyes came out.
Good work everyone, and thanks as always to Paradigm for running things.

Thanks for your comment, Turaxa. The bases are standard bases for Dreadball, and every team comes with them.
SergentSilver: Your color scheme is simple and effective. I feel like the model would benefit from brighter highlights and something more on the base-- rocks, tufts, or something like that.
KidCthulhu: I do like me some blue oni. Using the same colors on the blade and the hair/beard is a nice touch that really sells the burning heat of the model.
Freya: The blue/purple fairies stand out nicely against the Nurgle-y browns and greens. The combined rust/metal on the scythe works really well.
theCrowe: Once again, you've sculpted a cool model (I envy your GS skills).
Mothsniper: I love the vibrant purples on the minotaur-- what is your recipe? Also, I didn't notice the bloody mouth until just now-- that's a cool little detail.
Captain Brown: Another nifty Necromunda unit. I particularly like your flames.
Nevelon: You get really good results with Contrast paints. You make me want to try them. Also, the bright green tentacles are a nice touch.
Snail22: This is a solid little unit. The limited palette makes the spot details really pop.
Geifer: Your sculpted base came out really well-- the cracked pavement adds a lot to the base and the model as a whole.
queen_annes_revenge: One doesn't usually see Slaanesh models this dark, but the dark purple and the copper/brass make for a nice contrast.
me: I had fun painting these models. I had originally planned to make the greens more vibrant, but I'm happy with the muddy skin tones. I kind of wish their uniforms matched better, but that's a problem for pretty much every Dreadball team.
TheLastTemplar: Using the same colors/pattern makes these guys feel like a unit, and all the individual detailing (the heraldry in particular) really sells the individuality.
Vejut: I like the blue metallic armor effect on the second model from the right.
Maharg: I like the drab green skin on the goblin-- it makes the spot colors stand out more.
Arakasi: You are braver than I am to dress and Ork in green. The black/yellow pattern on the hose turned out really well.
DV8: As always, you have a really vibrant palette on GG. The smoke was a little disconcerting at first, as it's usually shown as white in the comics, but the effect itself is great. I may use it as photoreference.
Viterbi: A solid paint job on this dude. I feel like the silver could use deeper shadows.
inmygravenimage: I approve of your brown/gold uniform for Wolverine. I've never been a fan of the blue and yellow.
Midget Gems: The plasma balls on the gun turned out great, as did the patchwork tube/hose thing.
CancelledApocalypse: I like the subtle shading on the armor and the not-at-all subtle red hair.
Turaxa: I think you are right that the seam would have benefited from being filled in. The carapace could also do with some lighter highlights. I agree that the eyes did turn out well.
Stellar work all around this month. Let's all keep at it!

Cheers! That was actually what I was trying to achieve with this, a sort of disconcerting, almost messy or dirty look. In my head-narrative, I wanted every bit of this model to reflect the chaotic psyche and personality of the Green Goblin, and while a lot of comics have his smoke as white (and a lot of smoke and even explosion effects in my own Marvel collection) tend to be a clean white-grey look with some subtle yellow-orange glows, I really wanted this one to be messy. Think how Reivers in Firefly muck up their engines to spit out smoke and fire and really just look like it's not well maintained and really grimey, and that's what I wanted to capture with the Goblin model.

[list]SergentSilver: That's a nice colour scheme. Is it a homebrew chapter?
Thank you! I suppose you could call it a homebrew chapter as it's certainly not any official chapter I know of, though I simply refer to it as a custom color scheme since I've never made up any back story. Came up with the original back in the Dark Crusade/Soulstorm days on those games customizers, though it has evolved since then as the models change. I'm actually considering a purple/teal palette to demarcate Veterans and. For whatever reason, when I look at the banner I just want it to be a rich royal purple (similar to my IG palette), so I've been puzzling over how to work it into the army.
As for play, I run them as whatever I feel like trying. Too many flavors to lock myself into something specific, if you know what I mean, and I love all the unique aesthetics of the various chapters. Lately I've been enjoying BA on the table, but I have been toying with a list each for both Deathwing and Ravenwing in an attempt to get some old models back in the light.
JoshInJapan wrote: SergentSilver: Your color scheme is simple and effective. I feel like the model would benefit from brighter highlights and something more on the base-- rocks, tufts, or something like that.
I discovered that a simple drybrush of bone color can act very effectively as a universal highlight for these colors while painting some test models for my dream project of LotD, and I've enjoyed the ease it allows in the finishing stages. I admit that it could do with some more specific highlighting should I ever attempt to bring my army up to parade quality, but for now I'm more interested in getting a fully painted 3000pts for once.
As for the basing, I completely agree. I'm still settling in to the Citadel Technicals for basing, but I've recently purchased an Army Painter Battlefields Basing Set to try out the various types of extras. Hopefully, I'll find one that clicks into the right balance of ease of use, application speed, and quality that works for me. Either way, you'll likely see some of that start appearing in future entries.

Well, that's a lot more thought that I ever put into my painting. The dark, greasy smoke really does add a lot of depth to the model.

I don't particularly enjoy basing, but I do find that just a couple of rocks and/or some grass tufts improve my bases. Give it a try!
