How am I supposed to field a legionnaire with a heavy chainaxe with none in the kit. I'm not buying the kill team just for one model. I've seen chain axes on eBay but their 1 handed axes so can't be modelled as a proxy as the heavy chainaxe is 2 handed?

Can't help on the kits to buy, I'm way out of the loop. But you can covert a two handed axe fairly easy (minus pinning perhaps). Especially if you already have axes. (triply if you happen to have the OG berzerker axes without hands.)
Otherwise, zinge industries sells flexible chain teeth, they are a little bit on the large side, but for a heavy axe that works perfectly.
It has the round attachment points too like the GW ones:
Spoiler:

That is one of the newer axes and the chain is as wide as that on the links, hence the shroud to hide it a little.
It's also possible to shave of the teeth of an existing chain weapon, but you have basically zero room for failure.
If you cut it well though it's flexible as well (to a point) and can stick with plastic glue.

This axe head is all styrene and the teeth were peeled from a chainsword. it's not as tough as it sounds, detailing the resulting weapon on the other hand can be super fiddly.

I guess the closest 1 model equivalent would be the master of executions and you grind down the blade to replace with a chain. Shouldn't be hard to find an engine part on some spare chainweapon. but I'm not sure it's smarter than buying the legionaires for twice the price.

you get a whole bunch of bits and don't need to convert anything at all.

Youll have to get creative with some modelling, or look out for the heavy one on a bits store.

I just brought from eBay the chain axe from the chosen kit. It's one handed grip but still big enough to be proxied for a heavy chainaxe

I'm revamping my Legionnaires. Was in the same spot.

Using these for my guys:

The axe on the second prints separate from the model. It fits on arms with a little green stuff.

May have to dig my 3d printer out of the cupboard then. Also for the rest of the squad I used the bolt pistols and chainswords from my raptor kit as there isn't enough for a squad of 10 in the standard legionnaires box
