My friend just picked up the Core Box for Crisis Protocol, and I was wondering if anyone had some good resources for getting into the game with him.

I did read the rules from the website, and am browsing the character cards, but if anyone has more info, I'd love the assistance!

Sure thing!

First off, there's a couple major updates to the game to consider. One was released in 2021 and updated a lot of the Core Set cards in pretty meaningful ways. Here's a link to the print and play, though there is a card pack of it for sale.

Also importantly, they've moved away from making you buy characters for scenario cards. All the scenarios can be found here. There will be a pack for sale in the future, but hasn't been released yet:

In line with this, it's worth noting that a lot of the tactics cards have rotated out. They've moved away from generically powerful stuff that you have to buy characters to get and instead are focusing more on cards that only work with the character they come with. Most of the core set cards are still valid, though Drop Off was banned a long time ago.

With that in mind, its mostly a question of what questions you have! The game is super open ended. You just take any 10 characters you want and build a list from them at the table. You get a notable bonus from playing more than 50% of your list out of an affiliation though so you can use the list here to help guide your collection:

Also, MCPDB is a great site to see any of the cards for the game. Let me know what further questions you have. It's definitely my top game at the moment.

Much appreciated! I'll stumble my way through these links when I've time.

Glad they're making stuff easily available. The friend I have has yet to even assemble his minis, so it might be a while till I've more questions. But still, big thank you.
