I'm not saying announcing, but when will people be able to first purchase copies of 10th BRB? When will tires meet the road?

I'm gonna say between May and June. Say between Memorial Day and July 4th.

June 24th is from Valrak's 'trusted sources' and corroborated by GW stores having a lot of mandatory training seminaries in the weeks leading up to it, like they usually do before major releases.

Working with the assumption that it is coming out this year, I'd lean towards somewhere in the mid-June to mid-July period - I imagine they'll want it out before the UK school Summer Holidays, for example.

Haha if true that's going to be dampener on finnish players. Traditional celebration happens to hit that day this year and not even sure stores would be open.

No weekend assembling new toys.

That's bad. But i think GW only cares about UK and US holidays in their planning, everything else is fair game. Warhammer Fest i think is earlier than usual due to the Coronation

June July would make sense as that gives tournies their 6 months with ark and gives GW their cash potential with dropping a ton of new books for the next season or whatever.

I recall hearing the UK Post Office is releasing Warhammer stamps on that day as well.

Yep. Not expecting them to factor in every celebration in the world Just found it funny. Luckily couple days here or there won't bother me. Some people might be more of "now now now!" ;-) I can wait for monday though.

Uuuhh....No. Fest is may. No way in hell it is going to be released on november so 6 months after is no.

Edition always comes in summer. June. julu, august at latest. So 3 months from fest tops.

A. Tactics just stated GW is doing another "rules update" so if that's true, it's not gonna be this month, or April. Not even GW is dumb enough to drop a new edition after spending the money to make direct changes to the old one. Now I'm guessing Juneteenth.

Vampire Counts 5th edition army book would like a word with you. It had less than 8 months shelf life if I recall correctly before WFB 6th edition was released... which was a massive departure from 5th edition so was in no way or shape compatible.

The objective of the game is to win. The point of the game is to have fun. The two should never be confused.

The balance stuff is mainly aimed at the tournament circuit, and at least some tourneys are probably going to use 9th edition for quite some time after the release of 10th, at least till 10th got its first FAQ probably. Also, GW has absolutely been dumb like this before, so i'd not bet too highly on them being smarter this time

GW is absolutely dumb enough to do that. But...

I expect 10th has been finalised already, to get to the printers. There will need to be a lot of books printing, and the digitisation of the books and the app (new or updated).
This leaves time for balance updates to 9th.
And hopefully, 10th has been written by different games designers to the ones who are still working on 9th. Nothing the 9th team will be doing would be affected by what happens to 10th, until it is released. That's wishful thinking though, which would explain some of the odd rules coming out recently, where 9th and 10th are getting muddled in the designers' heads.

Lol the "balance" dataslates don't exactly take much of money. Rather it brings in money as marketing department gets to say what players should buy for next months.

If anything they want to encourage people to buy now rather than go to "wait for new edition" non buying period...So changing imbalance for tournament try hards to change armies again makes even more sense.

Anyway this month and next month isn't summer anyway so we knew months ago it would not come this month or next month. No we knew that years ago

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Codex_(Warhammer_40,000)
9th Edition was released in July 2020.
8th Edition was released June 2017.
7th Edition was released May 2014.
6th Edition was released June 2012

So, 10th will be between May and July. With the logistics issues, I would bet mid-July.

10th will drop in July 2023, and players will not be able to actually play it due to "printer issues" and "Bexit concerns" and there only being 5 actual copies of the BRB in existence. However, you will be able to buy all 5(!) different books, supplements, addendums, and day 1 changes, needed to play Space Marines.

Yeah - was going to link the same.
The past doesn't guarantee things - if production has been delayed etc they might have to go later. But they very clearly like going for this early Summer window, and its not obvious why they wouldn't do the same this time.

My guess is we'll see the 5th AoO book released say 13th May. 40k's 10th edition will then likely be announced a week or two later. You'll then have a month to six weeks or so of hype, rules changes, new models etc. Then a 2 week pre-order. 24th June is probably about the quickest that could begin - but I suspect 1st or 8th July would be more likely.

So 15th or 22nd July release date seems a good bet.

The same company that only a few years ago released a new Marine codex (Aug 2019) which wasn't even around for a year before moving onto an entirely new edition of the game (July 2020)?
