Been getting very excited about Heresy lately and working on some projects so I have quite a few questions on here lately.

The thing that has me curious is how open-ended is 30k conversion acceptance? Specifically, I am modeling some Siege of Terra Reavers from CSM bodies with all the appropriate fittings, some MKIII/MKVI parts, and SoH shoulder pads/helms mixed in. However, I was wondering would it be generally acceptable to model them with chainswords, perhaps count as a charnable saber? Or would building them with chainswords instead of the listed chainaxe loadout be considered generally unacceptable by the community?

So using the CSM bodies isn't an issue as by the Siege the Sons were fully down the path of Chaos (we even see it on a few novel covers and illustrations).
However, it would be best not to "Counts As" the Chainswords as Chainaxes, purely because when a game gets going it's easier for everyone if all the units are obvious by a glace. If for example, you are also running Assault Marines or Despoilers, the Reavers will look similar at a glance and could easily cause confusion.
Most events will run rules with "WYSIWYG", meaning the Reavers would have to be equipped with Chainaxes if you went to one.

Alright thanks for another helpful answer Gert. Kinda a shame as I was hoping to double these Reavers as CSM for 40k. On the contrary any idea if CSM can take chainaxes to count as chainswords? Lol

Regular CSM can take a Heavy Chainaxe on one guy, and the Champ can take another (smaller) Chainaxe.

They can all take Chainswords, though.

I've converted the new 'zerker kit for mine. Works really well and looks the part.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, as long as you can clearly say that all chainswords are axes, and not expect your opponent to remember that one specific model's is a power sword instead, then outside of tournaments you should be fine.

Would you happen to have any pictures of these converted reavers? It seems like a really cool idea.
