I'm looking at putting together some ambush lists and I'm curious what others have been doing. At 750 to 1k points it seems difficult to get some of the bigger toys, which left me wondering. If you wanted to express a factions identity in a small game how would you do it? Say your friend Terry fancies a new army and asks to borrow a list from you to give it a go in ambush. What list would you offer someone to feel out that factions specific traits over other ones?

I try to make 500-600 points list with the Ambush Boxes
going with PMC and conversions, like making the Hero out of the provided frames

they have the unique core units of the factions and are cheap to get, so if a friend wants to try it and likes it he can easily replicate it but also doing a slow grow army based on that

Are there lists for factions without boxes?

I haven't done ones myself as I based the list on easy entry into the game and therefore only those with models available

but we could make a collection of lists for all factions with easy access in mind

I’m still working to get a handle on ambush. I kind of like the idea of using more troops, but if I end up with more ogres, that’ll work a lot differently.

realism is a lie

here is a 995pt ambush list i drew up for halflings, for the figures i picked up as discounted individual sprues at adepticon (though i still need to get some of the specialty stuff)

not sure if this plays all that great, but i think it captures the feel of the Shires well enough.

uses 2 of the ambush sets (or the battlegroup, which is basically the same set). i tend to use reduced model counts and multibasing so you can stretch the models into more units.

the Heros you can do using the sets, but you'll need to buy the volley gun and troll gunners.
