At the beginning of the year Atomic Mass Games were releasing a new set of Crisis Protocol miniatures every few weeks. Recently the releases seem to have completely dried up and the only thing they are Tweeting about is Star Wars. Have they given up on Crisis Protocol? I saw some photo a while back of a whole load of new X-Men stuff (including Professor X, Kitty Pride, Nightcrawler and Ice Man - they looked fantastic) and also a whole new Magneto and a whole new Ultron. Will they ever be released? And will they ever get around to all the characters I'm hoping to see - Fantastic Four, Submariner, Hercules etc? Is the game dying? I'm afraid it might be. Perhaps there's a more limited market. You can play the game with just a few figures so maybe there are diminishing returns in releasing new ones. Star Wars on the other hand is more suited to playing with an army so maybe that's where the money is.

What are your thoughts? Is there life in Crisis Protocol yet? Are we going to see the game going from strength to strength or has Atomic Mass really given up on it? I do hope not....

They literally released new models on Friday.... there were new models in May. It amazes me how little it takes for people to panic. Shatterpoint is new and in need of options so its getting a flurry of new releases. MCP will get more soon enough.

So, according to the OP, a game is dying if it doesn’t get new releases every week?
Atomic Mass is not GW, and a game doesn’t need to flood the market with new releases to remain viable.
They’re still releasing stuff faster than I can buy and/or paint it. Which is a sign of a thriving game, not a dead one.

So they’ve slowed down a little. That’s not a bad thing when there are many lists to build now and a huge variety with nearly 200 different characters for the game so far.

If they start staggering the releases between their games, what makes you assume a game is dead?

It’s dead when they officially state they are no longer supporting it. Otherwise it’s safe to assume it’s still making them a profit.

I mean I did just buy Cosmic Ghost Rider Saturday, which released on Friday. So I’m not sure why you’d think the game is dead?

And even if it did stop getting support tomorrow, that doesn’t mean you can’t play it any longer. Does it?

Relax. Be glad that you now have some time between releases to breathe and paint your stuff.

Thanks for the replies and glad you both have faith in the future of the game. I hope you’re right. Maybe I am panicking. But don’t get me wrong - I’m not complaining - just hoping the game isn’t going to stop. Sure you can still play it if it does but here’s the deal - I don’t play I just paint and I’m just hoping they keep selling those models for years to come because I want to be able to buy them all because they’re just so fantastic.

I just think they have a lot more to juggle now, so it’s expected that releases will slow down. It’s going strong in my area, so I assume it has a long life ahead of it.

Not given up, it's just called Shatterpoint now.

Love the 40k universe but hate GW? https://www.onepagerules.com/ is your answer!

I am glad they are taking a pause.
I have so many I still have to paint (I buy all the MCP releases).

I think it was sensible for them to give Shatterpoint some breathing room for its release.

There is heaps more in the pipeline....

Taking a break is fine. Just hope you’re right about the heaps more to come. I’d buy them all too if I had the money and the time to paint them!

FYI, they're doing MCP announcements for GenCon on Aug 2nd followed by their big Ministravaganza teaser event for all their games Sept 14-16.

Okay hold up my hands. Got it wrong (and I’m very pleased I did). They just announce a batch of cool new minis AND a whole new Core Set. Still, no Fantastic Four. What the heck is that all about?

Waiting for a rainy day... or at least for when Disney releases a movie to hype them up. I don't think it's a coincidence that we're getting Scarlet Spider and Gwenom likely around when Beyond the Spiderverse was supposed to release.

But what a hole in the game. It really ain’t the Marvel Universe without the FF. I’m wondering if it has something to do with game play. I mean most of the characters can be affiliated in different ways. With the FF the four of them are pretty much the only configuration aren’t they? Could that be it?

The FF can have loads of other characters in there, she-hulk, Spider-Man, black panther. Easy to put some of them in other teams too. It won't be hard to put them in other teams or even make a new one like the Illuminati. All told there is a lot positive to come.

7000pts Black Templars (original army)
3500pts Death Guard (lazy side project)

Plenty of options for the roster:

Since you seem to like the F4 so much I'm surprised you haven't googled them so you know what your talking about.

For Fantastic Four the following characters we already have all been on the team at one point or another -

Crystal, Medusa, Luke Cage, She Hulk, Storm, Black Panther, Spider-Man, Wolverine and Ghost Rider. Add on main 4 members and that's a pretty big roster.

Could argue Hulk as well but that was the grey Mr Fixit version rather than either of the two versions we currently have.

I say we need a gray and red Hulk then…..and Adam Warlock. Just not the ugly movie version….

That’s nice. Real nice. I like the look of them. I’m not an expert, don’t play the game and came to the comics late. I just paint the miniatures and would really like to see Crisis Protocol make some FF4 miniatures. I’d have thought a bit of enthusiasm for new models was something we could all share. But hey ho apparently not. Somebody says something you don’t like and you jump in and have a snipe at him. Just what the hobby needs a bit more of

It’s a real shame the movies have started deviating from the comics so much with the characters isn’t it? Up to recently they all looked pretty much like they do in the comics and then Narmor, Warlock, Kang, all nothing like them….
