I used to play and can recommend trying it out. I've always despised the blatant P2W business model of MtG, but was curious about how the game works, with so many fans, and checking it out for free was fun for a while.

It became very stagnant realtively quckly (~2 years) as I felt every new set didn't really offer anything new, so I stopped playing. The game itself doesn't really live up to the hype for me, but in the category "need something to play on my phone in a queue" is pretty ok.
