Question: Do Independent Characters that join units have to fire at the same target the joined unit shoots at in the shooting phase, or can Independent Characters target different units than the unit selected by their joined unit? I have searched the rulebook and did not find an answer. Thanks.

While they maintain a separate stat line, they’re otherwise part of the unit for all intents until they break coherency. So they have to shoot at the same target unless the unit has split fire or some such.
