Report:

From an online game against a custodes player who I'd lost to some weeks prior. Great guy. We played 'the ritual', 'sweeping engagement'. I got first turn.

Top of turn 1. Assault doctrine. My 1 unit of scout bikes rocketed across the board. 9" (scout) + 12" (normal move) + 2" advance + 7" charge into one calladius grav tank, locking it in melee, 1" short of scoring capture enemy outpost!
Meanwhile, a calladius was my oath target. Libby dread teleported the hellblasters into a far corner of the board where they could draw LOS to it and Trajann's squad. My lascannon devs emerged to add their firepower on the calladius. Together they killed it and bloodied Trajann's squad. I score engage on all fronts (again, 1 more inch from the bikers and I would have gotten all 4 quarters).

Bottom of turn 1, my opponent's remaining calladius couldn't move to see anything but the hellblasters without falling back from the scout bikes. Trajann annihilated the scout biker squad, but he had to move into terrain and therefore sight of the midfield to reach them, so he went ahead and committed everything. A land raider came forward, saw only lone ops (scout snipers and calladius on objectives), so he advanced. His plan was that oath would be spent on the land raider, so my damage to the squad inside would be minimal and they would hit me hard or drive me away from the board center for a turn or two. He scores no secondaries.

Top of turn 2. Devastator doctrine. I came out. Oath, the incursors and grav devastators with storm of fire killed the land raider on their own. Everyone else poured fire into the squad that emerged and Trajann's squad. The thunderstrike made wounding Trajann's unit much easier. Trajann dies. The disembarked squad loses a couple models.

So now it's the bottom of turn 2. He has 1000 points left on the board to my 1800 (I've lost 5 hellblasters and the scout bikers), his -1 damage strat has been vected, and his only road forward is into the teeth of my land raider redeemer, and if his calladius comes out to help it will be annihilated by about 6 shooty units. We call it.

Takeaways: This blood angels list is a killer when it gets 1st turn.
This victory wouldn't have been so overwhelming without the scout bikers and the lone op snipers, both of which are moving to legends. The attack bikes are great, too. I'm very sad about losing those. I'm shocked that no one is talking about the scout bikers' potential. Their package (grenade launchers, power fist) is nothing to sneeze at.
