I've got a single day event lined up for next month and will be taking my marines, it'll be decently competitive so I want to knock something up to do reasonably well.

From the new marine book I like the firestorm and the Ironstorm but think the later may struggle to do well on the dense tables I am expecting.

So below is my first look at a Salamader Ironstorm.

The basics are two landraiders packed with Aggressors+captain, Bladeguard+Adrax and CHeroes+vulkan, then a droppod with Infernus and some Eradicators to come in from reserve.
I have the scouts, Combi Lt and Inceptors for mission play.
Lastly I have a Ballistus dread because they are good and I needed more antitank.

I have 15pts left that I can't use, any suggestions of what I could swap around - I feel the mission playing units and Ballistus could be dropped if there are better options I haven't seen.

Out of curiosity, why the CoH with Vulkan?

The company of heroes work nicely with vulkan for a few reasons.

Firstly they are excellent points per wound and ok ranged firepower and decent combat punch packed into 4 models which fit nicely into the landraider with the bladeguard.

Usually one of the drawbacks of the CoH is that they need a captain but the captains free strat buff isn't much good on them - on the other hand Vulkans buffs effect other units instead of his own so he works well sitting in them helping others.

Main reason is the cheap extra wounds with small footprint.

Oh! That is all very good reasoning. I kinda dismissed the CoH at first but they really are looking like a solid include, especially for this style of list.
