Weren't we supposed to get a reveal for a new HH2 army already?

With the recent release schedule FUBAR's of GW recently, I'm not even convinced we will get the Beakie Assault Squad kit this year.. And now I'm hearing rumors that KT21 Season 3 launch will get postponed to early 2024 as well!

Winter hasn't even started yet my guy.

Winter is December to February.

What Gert said. Unless you're in the summer hemisphere.

Winter 2023-24 was the release for the "Mystery Army"...so unless it's literally just them porting stuff over from 40k into 30k, they should have done something to preview them.

Corrected myself, as I forgot this was before they started actually breaking the Winter up into 2023 and 24.

Ok so I misunderstood "Winter" to mean Q4/2023.. Yawn. Welp, nothing to look forward to anymore this year then I guess..

I made the same mistake initially, only realized it a couple weeks ago because I started having the same thoughts you did. Its partially to do with GW itself being inconsistent about how it represents these roadmaps. Some are based seasonally, which does not directly align with the timing of a calendar year, others are presented quarterly, which does align with the calendar. Its a bit silly that they can't be consistent and just pick one format for all their games and stick to it, but whatever.

Mind you, I don't think we've seen an updated roadmap since April 30th of this year for Horus Heresy.

I think Winter will mean winter, not autumn, especially given the delay of getting LI out.
So I'm not guessing preview before LI is out and probably not before Jan. They dont want to risk lore bad rep for delays etc.

Preview in Jan, release Feb/March is solid Winter.

Lots of things point towards Solar btw, but I am still secretly hoping Mechanicum. So much scope for Dark Mech modelling/FW resin conversion kits/3rd party bits.

Plastic Thallax would be a godsend.

Or it could be previewed on Thursday and out next week for preorders. They've done that with some Newcromunda stuff.

But also since y'know, the solar(Celtic) season defines winter as November 1st to January 31st.
Or maybe it will go up on December 23rd and release by March 21st!

That's why this one is so irritating. Because unlike several other roadmaps they've done, where they have refined & updated them to showcase "Hey. This is Winter 2023 while this is Winter 2024", the Heresy roadmap has been left sitting with "Winter" and the 2023-24 tag.

So? Its not winter as per the GW calendar and so far HH has actually stuck to its reveals and releases.
The only delays have been within the time frame of the given season/quarter.
Everything for Autumn has been released for Autumn, same with Summer and Spring.

When has GW ever posted a calendar definition for their roadmaps?

Depends what you mean? This Kill Team roadmap gave us months/quarters:
https://www.warhammer-community.com/2021/08/12/octarius-is-just-the-beginning-for-a-new-age-of-kill-team/

These codex roadmaps gave us specific months:
https://www.warhammer-community.com/2020/10/15/warhammer-40000-the-codex-roadmap/
https://www.warhammer-community.com/2021/08/13/whos-getting-a-new-codex-in-2021-find-out-with-our-road-map-for-warhammer-40000/

The codex roadmap at the end of this article gives us seasons and years (i.e. "Winter 2023" - which GW has more recently confirmed will in fact mean that both AdMech and Necrons will be released this year):

As above, however, you can also use common sense to see that the roadmap is split into 4 sections and use basic maths to determine what they encompass.

Starting with summer as these months are consistent across GW as June, July, and August. From there it is simple enough to split the remaining 9 months into three sections. Spring is March, April, and May. Autumn is September, October, and November. Winter is December, January, and February.
Combine that with literally everything that has been released so far in those sections and it's pretty simple.

You just seem to be clinging to an idea that's been disproven for some reason.

And you just seem to be missing the point of why I said what I did.

They haven't updated the Horus Heresy roadmap since April as far as I'm aware. The other systems have received updates. Not HH.

That's the one I posted. It was a crappy roadmap that has been left sitting by the wayside, and your continued insistence that it's somehow crystal clear is ridiculous.

Well then my question to you is "When has GW ever updated a roadmap once they released it"? Because I can't think or find any immediately obvious examples. They may have released an update once during COVID announcing that a pair of codexes were delayed, but thats about it. Their usual way of doing things is to release a roadmap for the next however long, and then only release a new roadmap (rather than a direct update) after the previous roadmap has been completed.

And yet everything on that roadmap has been released at the times it was supposed to be released. Having it be vague encourages discussion.
We're literally about to find out what this "Mystery army release" is and it's still not clear what it's going to be. Have some fun with it before you hurt yourself.

The past year alone they've been doing updates for AoS, KT, Underworlds, and WarCry each time there's been a preview show.

Ooh a Mystery Army for Horus Heresy? That's exciting! My money is on Daemons of Ruinstorm!

Why else would they publish rules for units that don't have a model range?
https://www.warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/ylWxyIzI3lS6fEE9.pdf

Seems like the prime candidates are Cavalry, Harriers, Behemoth, etc.

You're going to be disappointed.

For one, thats not the only pdf army list, hell it isn't even the first. But also because the pdf lists like Daemons of the Ruinstorm and Imperialis Militia were promised to us on launch as essentially being legacy armies so that people who had built armies for the previous edition using those army lists could continue playing with them going forward. If they were going to give us a model range for it, they wouldn't have released a pdf for it.

Well the Autumn stuff was released just last week. Perhaps there was delays that pushed it back further than anticipated. It's certainly possible we could get the teasers in the next few weeks though.

My money is still on mech or solar.

In the northern hemisphere this winter is from 22nd of December to 20th of March, so plenty of time left before we are even in winter.

There is another GW preview thingy mid November, I guess chances are good we might see something then and there.

Regardless of which season is when, wouldn't the winter release come about 3 months after the autumn release, which was like last week?

Yup, sounds like a reasonable expectation to me. This would mean end of January for the "big thing" and early/mid January for the FW portion(s).

But once more: with GW these days there is no way of making solid predictions.

Yeah I'm actually pretty impressed with them so far keeping to the roadmap without exception. So I do expect the Mystery army release to be during Winter, i.e Dec-Feb, or for us northerners, x-max to March.

To reduce the possibility of calendar misunderstandings, maybe they should have stuck with quarters Q1-Q4.

Just because the Midwest has a foot of snowfall in some places doesn't mean it's winter yet. Winter starts when the real college football bowl games start - the week before Christmas. It would be like a Floridian complaining that autumn, winter, and spring are December, January, and February because March - November are 90+F which is 9 months of summer.

Just read on B&C that there is a Warhammer live event coming on November 17th from the US (during the championships), I'd wager we will get the Mystery Army revealed on the stream, and if we're lucky, they will also show the new plastic Assault Beakies.

So we shall know more in 15 days

Rumours place the LI launch at Nov 18 though. But sure let's see.

The way they tease nowadays they might just show one silhouette of one mini.

No way is that the launch date. It would have already needed to be up for preorder this weekend, given the 2 week preorder cycle we're on for the foreseeable future.
