So I recently had my first game of 10th edition, and my opponent made some claims about how chaos space marines and marks of chaos work that seemed a little off from what the book says, can anyone weigh in?

The claims were that, A. The re-roll on 1s for chaos undivided only were active after you make a dark pact, and B. That allied bezerkers can't be used as a bodyguard unit for a chaos lord since they do not share a mark, since there is no mark on bezerkers.

Are either of these true?

(We both played chaos marines, so I don't see why he would lie, I assume if he was wrong, it was an honest mistake)

A: It states that you get the added benefit only if you make a Dark Pact.

B: Looking at the Berzerker datasheet, they have the Khorne keyword, but a Chaos Lord can only join Chosen or Legionary units. If it was a casual game however I wouldn't have an issue with you running them together.

I wasn't running them together, he mentioned he wanted to but couldn't, and thanks for that, not sure how I missed the first one.

The 10th ed leader rules are so damn weird.

Abbadon cant lead chosen, just legionaries, terminator lords can only join terminators, and cypher can't lead squads of "fallen" chosen anymore.
