Hello,
old time gamer / collector here. My journey into Games Workshop began just over 30yrs ago(!) with Battlemasters and Space Crusade (I've still got both although missing one or two bits and the miniatures formed the nucleus of many of the below armies). From there I moved onto the “class A” stuff with WHFB 4th edition and WH40K 2nd edition.
I played a few games early on and did some classic early teenage paint jobs (you can imagine). But then drinking came along, clubbing, uni, a career, girlfriends and eventually a wife (none of whom approved) and finally children came along (my excuse for holding onto my warhammer/kit cars/hornby for years!).
I've kept the miniatures, inherited friends’ collections who grew out of it, and supplemented my armies further through the dangerous combination of a salary and eBay.
Currently my army roster is approx as follows (yes I have an army tracker spreadsheet):
- Orcs & Goblins 265 miniatures
- Empire 234 miniatures
- Tomb Kings 166 miniatures
- Warriors of Chaos 63 miniatures
- Beastmen 21 miniatures
- Daemons 31 miniatures
(obviously these last 3 used to be 1 army for me originally)
- High Elves 96 miniatures
- Skaven 95 miniatures
- Ogre Kingdoms 14 miniatures
- Vampire Counts 14 miniatures
- Monsters (aside from pegasus/griffons/wyvern/giant in the above armies I've also got 3 dragons and a manticore which were intended to be interchangeable mounts for multiple armies).
- Beginnings of a space marine army (my own chapter - the Ultraviolet Knights!) mainly comprising old plastic space marines (50 perhaps?) and about 15 terminators and a converted rhino.
- A handful of Imperial guard with a Leman Russ Demolisher.
- A decent collection of Eldar. But just squads. No jet bikes or tanks etc.
- The orks/gretchins from space crusade and WH40K 2nd edition.
- A few other bits and bobs.
I've dipped in and out of the hobby over the years and have probably got about a third of all these painted. Most of the WHFB are magnetised.
But I don't think I've actually played a game in 25-30 years. I've got the North West Gaming Centre in Stockport just around the corner from me and I hope to get along for a game of TOW at some point.
Maybe I'll see some of you down there!
