Hello all,
I'm hoping for some opinions which might help me figure out this conundrum.
My reading of the new TOW rules leads me to believe Heavy Cavalry characters can't join a Light Cavalry unit, and vice versa. Moreover, the difference in base size (25x50 for a standard warhorse, 30x60 for a Bretonnian warhorse) makes this awkward anyway.
I've been collecting Bretonnia since 5th edition and have a number of units built around those rules. I would like them to be "legal" for TOW even if I rarely play the game.
So here's the problem:
Baron Odo d'Outremer is Heavy Cavalry, riding a Bretonnian warhorse with a 30x60 base. His companion Suliman le Saracen is Light Cavalry, riding a warhorse with a 25x50 base. Aside from the awkwardness of ranking that up, it seems like Suliman can no longer legally join a unit of Bretonnian knights. Have I misunderstood the rules, and if not, does anyone have suggestions for a good workaround?
Also Reynard le Chasseur with his two hunting hounds. Reynard is Heavy Cavalry on a 30x60 base, but his hounds are presumably on 25x50 bases. Again it ranks up awkwardly. But also, in 5th Edition Reynard went to battle with his mounted squires, who are Light Cavalry on 25x50 bases. My reading of the TOW rules is that this "hunting party" with a mixture of Heavy and Light Cavalry is now not legal.
I'm really stumped on whether there is any way to make these 5th edition characters/units work in TOW. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
