Hello my fellow Dakkanauts, I'm looking for recommendations for a good ultrasonic cleaner. The main purpose will be for stripping old gunpla and getting old paint out of the thrusters. I already have an ultrasonic, but it's a cheap one and just doesn't do the trick. I want to just be able to turn it on, let it run for awhile and have the old paint in the thrusters come off. Also, I use Purple Power to strip minis and gunpla.

Any recommendations are much appreciated. Thanks plenty!

EDIT: I'm on a fixed income, so I can't afford anything too expensive.

I've also been looking at getting one for stripping paint since IPA alone isn't quite doing the job.

I've been eyeing the iSonic P4820 but would be interested in what anyone else has to say.

I'll have to check what model I've got - as you should probably avoid it! Reviewed well, but I've only used it a dozen or so times in the 2ish years I've owned it and it's already crapped out on me.

Feels like ultrasonic cleaners are either industrial-grade or Temu-level junk grade, there's nothing in between...

For stripping models and miniatures, I cannot recommend AK Paint Stripper highly enough. Its not cheap so not for bulk jobs, but I can strip a model to bare plastic/metal in one hour or less with it (depending on how many layers I need to apply, varies between 2-6)

I use biostrip 20 which is great for making the paint come away from the model but I hate the scrubbing process. I wondered if putting them in a salad spinner would get all the paint off without damaging the models

Is there a chance that the AK Paint Stripper will damage the model? I need it to get gunk out of the inside of cone shaped thrusters.

I've used it on Citadel metals and plastics and there has been absolutely no damage

I saw some reviews talking about the AK stripper damaging plastic, but I guess it depends on how it's used.

I did end up ordering some and it should be arriving today.
