Whipped up some home made rules for knight drop pods for legions imperialis.

Point cost is a shot in the dark, they're based off the dreadnought drop pods which are 7pts a model. Like the dreadnought pods, these aren't assault transports so no charge order out of them. I also included the ability to purchase palisade shield pods for each knight pod.

Do you play 30k? It'd be a lot cooler if you did.

You can field 8 leviathan dreadnoughts in 8 dreadnought drop pods for 201pts.

There's also a titan that comes with infiltrate, is it game breaking to have a titan deploy 4 inches from you forces every game?

I did wonder this myself, even as a fan of Knights, but I think its been handled fairly well with a decent price cost and not allowing them to charge.

I'm okay with this one as the Direwolf is designed for that role and at least isnt armed to the teeth with melta and melee weapons, but I do find it comical that it can do this in a game of foot soliders...

Yes but the direwolf can very much charge, meaning it can be quite a pest to larger titans and right out gate.

Not to sound like I have an answer for everything - your point is very valid - but I wouldn't have my larger titans that far forward. A Reaver might though as they can be outfitted with serious close-combat options...

Speaking of which, I still kick around the idea of purchasing a third Reaver specifically for dual melee weapons. Big shiny ones. Show the opposition I mean business. Cannons for Show, saws for a pro...

Ya it's just that it can have a sizeable charge distance so can catch people off guard, my point is more about units just having infiltrate, it's more a frustration that in say past iterations of 40k, scenarios generally capped stuff like infiltrate. I think it's going to take obnoxious stuff like fielding multiple pioneer companies just to spam infiltrating tarantulas, and it doesn't even cost very much, 122-172pts depending on if you max out the tarantulas, and you can do added obnoxiousness like mixing the units weaponry so neither is vulnerable to infantry because the aa missiles can sadly cover for the las. It's obnoxious enough without getting infiltrate for free. So for somewhere between 244-344pts you can get 4 detachments of tarantulas that infiltrate, also getting a couple units of veletarii that also infiltrate.

I see what you mean. Its hard to build a house on foundations not yet set, and you've done the best with whats there.

It just seems like there are so many scarier things than a single questoris deep striking in a pod it can't charge out of for the cost of like 16 other models, especially it amazes me that anyone is concerned given there are very few limitations on drop pods, and pods are very inexpensive point-wise. I think it's that we're in a weird place like back in the chapter house lawsuit days where we have a book with rules and a lot of missing models without firm release dates. But its easy too to forget that brrrrr can put some games/groups ahead of others in terms of trying out what's possible.

A Knight drop pod broken? in a game where there are things like suicide Marauder Colossus bombers deleting hundreds of points in one run, or SM missile launcher parties infiltrating and deleting double the points cost T1, or ThunderHawks full of dreads that kill anything in assault for a handful of points....

Yeah I was surprised people thought it was so broken, knights aren't even that good for the points now compared to how many things compete.
