Do you make bases for your buildings? If yes, what do you make them of? Or maybe there are ready ones from some manufacturer?

I usually do it either if I fear the building might topple or of it is supposed to be in a ruined state and want make more detailed ruins.

If I do, I use heavy cardboard or plastic sheets. Either modelling plastic sheets (bought some from Green stuff world) or trash, which comes with the downside of often being poor quality and the undercoat might chip off if it is not sufficiently degreased and sanded.

Plasticard, hardboard, MDF, or chipboard. Just make sure it doesn't warp. The majority of material you use will have wear and tear on the base edges so you might have to repaint the edges every few years

Cork floor/wall tiles, PVA'd to within an inch of their lives to stop them warping (usually, but doesn't always work)

Forex (foamed PVC) is pretty good, cheap, light, cutable and totally nonabsorbent (won't warp)

Bit elastic tho, if you only pick up a big terrain piece by one side it will probably bend enough under its weight to cause damage.

I prefer to avoid bases since if they do not match the table you have this odd effect of islands of grey concrete on green table.

Kits like Pegasus Hobby's Gothic Building Sprue don't need bases and will sit nicely on any table.

Valid argument. Although someone (insert reason) could do all terrain the same style, for example green or snow etc.

I use three 6 x 2 baseboards.2 surfaces are painted & flocked grey, with black model railway "coal" scattered. "Industrial" or city building get grey painted base. Village medieval buildings get green bases. Last but not least, desert huts get sand. The grey buildings on sand does not offend me

Actually, when going through the countryside, the occasional farm or warehouse is actually kind of a' isle of grey in the green

I can not stress about occasionally... what I HAVEN'T sussed to my satisfaction is roads....

Depends on the game. For example in Warmachine, where buildings are impassable, bases are useful to denote their footprint while leaving a little bit of space for models overhanging the base to contact these pieces of terrain.

In Kill Team, on the other hand, buildings are fully accessible and true LOS visibility is part of targeting rules, so bases often make it difficult for models to hug cover or to be otherwise placed in an optimal way.

Depends on the structure. For an intact structure I will nearly always usually leave unbiased. Easier to store and transport and works on a variety of gaming surfaces.

For ruined buildings I will base. Usually on hardboard which is sturdy, cheap and easy to cut by hand with a coping saw. I think ruins look silly when sitting alone on an otherwise clean looking table and as long as the basing is of rubble matching the building it never looks wrong no matter what kind of surface they are on. Also, basing makes the ruins (which tend to be more skeletal) a bit more sturdy.

I have some GF9 Battlefield in a Box Ruins. They look great but the clean look is so jarring to me that I'm thinking of making separate rubble bases to set them on, just so they won't look so clean.
