A question regarding the cronos and it's ability

Would more than one cronos each get to roll for a single pain token spent?

Each time a Pain token is removed from your Pain token pool to Empower a unit, if that Empowered unit is within 9" of this unit, roll one D6: on a 4+, you gain 1 Pain token

I've seen in the core rules the restriction on auras effecting units more than once. Seeing as this doesn't actually have any effects on in game units on its own, are people playing it like that?

It feels closer to abilities that grant command points, and those almost always state "if one or more units are in range..." so i feel it does work with each one.

What says Dakka?

It's not come up to me before, but i don't know anyone else that plays the army. I hadn't even thought it an issue until i heard someone talk about paying it the other way with some conviction.

AURA ABILITIES
Some abilities affect multiple models or units in a given range. These are known as Aura abilities and
are tagged with the word ‘Aura’. A model with an Aura ability is always within range of its own Aura ability. A unit can be affected by more than one Aura ability at a time, but if a unit is within range of the same Aura ability more than once, that Aura ability only applies to that unit once.

While Pain Parasite is not the most elegantly written ability on a datasheet, it is clearly an Aura, which means a unit can only be affected by it once. That means no matter how many Pain Parasite Aura's a unit is within, it can only roll once.

Except it's not targeting the unit-it's affecting the player directly.

The unit using the Pain Token must be in range of the Aura. That's the targeting. It can't be affected by the same aura from multiple sources.

My interpretation is that each Cronos can benefit. A unit can't be affected by two identical auras, but in this case the unit spending the pain token is not being affected.

Per the Aura rule, if the Empowered Unit is within two Pain Parasite Aura's the Aura only is only applied once.

Still, GW should have written this rules as "...if the Empowered Unit is within 9" of one or more unit with this ability..." for clarity.
