Played a couple games against my nephew today, and something about pivots felt wrong to him. Namely, that Repulsors don't have to pay the pivot move. I decided to 4+ to keep the peace (not that it mattered, ultimately), but I'm pretty sure that a Repulsor's round base exempts it from pivoting.

Thoughts?

That is my read - round base on the Repulsor means no pivot cost.

All you have to do is fire three rounds a minute, and stand

Pivot Value
■ Models have a pivot value of 0", unless otherwise stated.
■ Monster and Vehicle models (excluding models on round
bases, and Aircraft models) have a pivot value of 2", unless
otherwise stated.

The Repulsor is mounted on a round 100mm base so it has a pivot value of zero.

If you need an in universe explanation you could say that the grav plates give the tank more maneuverability then tank treads.

And remember that all measurements for the Repulser are done from that round base. This means free pivots has little effect on play.

According to the ‘Hull’ and ‘Vehicles with bases’ entries in Rules Commentary, for all vehicles (other than *Walkers with a base) you always measure from the closest point on the model.(not just the base).

So a for a non-walker model with a round base you can pivot for free but still measure from the hull.

For some vehicles that can have a massive impact on play - e.g. a Drukhari Raider which is very long and narrow.

Classic GW move here. They to excluded only Vehicle Walkers with round bases from Hull measuring but didn't carry that distinction over to the Pivot rules. I'm sure they will errata that soonish when they realize they allowed free pivots for Drukari Vehicles.
