EDIT: I have made this post into an article, featuring full info on how each model was painted. You can find it here.

Many years after purchase, I finally got around to painting up all the miniatures for the Star Wars Rebellion board game. I'm going to turn this into a Dakka article at some point (since a lot of the guides for painting these models seem to be dropping offline these days), but in the meantime, I thought I'd share pics of the finished product(s).

One of the reasons this is project is something you should consider tackling is because so many of the models just require spray priming of one color, a couple of detail elements painted on, and then a black (Nuln-Oil) wash and they're done! That honestly takes care of like 65% of the models, allowing you just to focus on the few that require actual painting.

Not yet, but I have a game scheduled with a buddy to play on Saturday, so I'm pretty excited to get them on the table!

Well, the game was a blast as always, and having painted miniatures this time certainly made the whole experience a lot better, so I definitely do not regret the time and effort it took to paint them!

I did end up losing as the Rebels fairly quickly (like turn 6), most definitely due to mistakes I could have corrected, but I am much more confident in Imperial strategies and not so much on the Rebel side.

We did the advanced set-up and there ended up not being much Imperial presence anywhere near Mon Calamari, so I chose that as my secret rebel base. I was planning on building up a bit of a fleet/force on Mon Calamari itself as well as in the Rebel Base square, hoping that my opponent would wait a while to bother attacking Mon Calamari because of the forces visible on the board. Unfortunately, he did head right for Mon Calamari as soon as he could, even though he was totally outgunned (and his force was wiped out), which obviously exposed my base. Here's where I made my mistake, because I had a huge fleet/force now on Mon Calamari and he was at least 3 turns (if not more) away from being able to build up a force big enough to threaten it again, I should have just left my base exposed and played on from there, only changing the base location when I really felt threatened again. But I blundered and moved the location again immediately (to Tatooine), which allowed the rest of his forces to quickly spread out and accidentally stumble onto my new base before I had time to get forces back onto it (I also messed up by not using the 'Rapid Mobilization' mission to pull my forces back onto my new rebel base.

So yeah, good lessons learned for the next game, which I can't wait to play again.

Unfortunately we were playing with a bit of a time crunch, so I wasn't able to take pics during the game like I originally wanted to. I did get one shot to blow up the death star, but failed to make any of the 3 rolls to do so.

Okay, I finished making this into a full-fledged article with a full explanation of the (very simple) paint scheme used for each type of model in case anyone else is interested in painting up their game models:
