Some pictures below of my entries in this months painting challenge. First a veteran marine with terminator honours.

And a chaos marine with plasma gun/ chainsword.

The challenge was a good excuse to paint these two up as they don't really match anything else i have to paint. Also got to try contrast over metallics on the chaos marine which gives a really nice effect in the hand if not in the pictures.

It's always nice to see RT models getting repaints.
That 'Contrast over metalics' has been doing well for me too. It's almost like using oils from way back then.

The techno-organic feel to the RT era chaos space marines really is a departure from the later 'Marines with spikes and skulls, and fur' that GW went with.

Great work on both,

I was actually trying to use older GW paints as much as possible as well when painting them. Not so much on the chaos marine but the skulls on both models were old Bleached Bone and the metallics were basecoated with Chainmail. The chaos marine's base is Terracotta and i used some Ghoul Grey and Space Wolves Grey on the crux terminatus. Original Snakebite Leather on the marine's pouch as well.
