Subject: Deploying units split by a transport

If a unit is split in half by a transport, like a Sagitaur or an Immolator, can one of those units be deployed on the table while another is kept in reserve? Could one of them Deep Strike if it had a rule permitting it?
The 10e FAQ seems to imply that it works that way because it clarifies that the half-unit counts as half-cost for your strategic reserves limit, but I was wondering if there was anything more explicit. The wording of the rule is just "or it can be deployed as a separate unit" which reads ambiguously to me.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it. |

Once the units are split, they are considered separate units and are deployed separately
Immolator wrote:At the start of the Declare Battle Formations step, you can select one BATTLE SISTERS SQUAD, DOMINION SQUAD or SISTERS NOVITIATE SQUAD from your army. If you do, that unit is split into two units, each containing as equal a number of models as possible (when splitting a unit in this way, make a note of which models form each of the two new units. If you are splitting a unit that has the Cherub ability, only one of the new units can use that ability during the battle – make a note of which of the new units this will be). One of these units must start the battle embarked within this TRANSPORT; the other can start the battle embarked within another TRANSPORT, or it can be deployed as a separate unit.

The question was more whether holding a half-unit in reserve rather than deploying it during the deployment step was permitted.
A very strict read could say that "or it can be deployed as a separate unit" doesn't allow for it to be held in reserve as a separate unit, as that isn't deployment. But that would contradict the FAQ stating that half-units could be taken in strategic reserve at half-value.

I could be pedantic and say Strategic Reserves do get deployed eventually
But seriously, the point is it is a separate unit for deployment purposes. That means it is eligible to be selected for Strategic Reserves just like any other unit.
