Hey all! Please allow me a moment to introduce myself. My name is Will and I am the owner of Ignition Core Games LLC. Since you’re a backer of Relic Knights, I wanted to contact you personally with an update regarding the game before you read the news in a press release or other unofficial outlet.
As you may know, Ninja Division, the former publisher of the Relic Knights skirmish game, has officially been dissolved through bankruptcy. As a fan of Relic Knights myself, this was sad news and I hated to see a game I enjoyed disappear. As owner of Ignition Core Games, I resolved to attempt to save the game so many of us loved and wanted to see thrive.
I am happy to let you know that I have successfully acquired the license to publish and sell the Relic Knights skirmish game and will be relaunching the game this year at Adepticon 2025.
As a fan of Relic Knights i was pleased to see hints that the game might be coming back (under new mangagement) and i got an email about it today (they won't be fulfilling the KS but are offering previous backers some discount if they want to pick up minis they didn't receive which is welcome) Automatically Appended Next Post:
and this is statement pulled from facebook addressing that Ignition Core is NOT Soda Pop/Ninja Division (or employees either)
William Neill
[ ]I'm Will. Founder and owner of Ignition Core Games. I was going to wait until press release for hard details, but this at least I can address right now.
This project is 100% managed by my company. It's a license from SPM. There were a handful of conditions that I insisted on during negotiations and SPM agreed to them all.
1- ICG runs the project. I've put five years building my business and reputation. No portion of my company will be controlled by any current or former members of SPM or NJD.
2- Anything I sell from the Kickstarter goes to the backers at the lowest price I can offer. I can't afford to 'angel-invest' this kickstarter, but I can offer you guys hefty discounts.
3- Anything the backers buy on discount or at cost-of-goods-sold (essentially factory cost) related to the KS will not be subject to any licensor royalties.
If you pledged for it, you get it at the lowest prices I can afford.
Also this is not a return to a crowdfunding platform. Relic Knights 2.0 will return as a direct sale product. Sold directly at conventions or from on hand inventory.
Full press release is in just a few more days. Stay tuned.

I sat on the fence with Relic Knights - I liked the vibe and energy and some of the designs and was sad to see the firm flounder and fall apart.
So this is some really great news to hear its in new hands and coming back. Sounds like the new firm is being very fair to backers of the failed KS whilst also not crippling themselves trying to deliver everything on their own bat.

Definitely a game I've always wanted to live up to its potential. Not sure if it will, but I've got stuff painted from V1 and a friend who absolutely adores it, so I'm sure I'll give this a try one way or another.

Sounds good, sounds good. I was all in on first edition (the one that delivered) and it's a great little ruleset plagued by wildly inconsistent sculpts. But this was back in the day of genuine runaway campaigns that weren't optimized marketing psyops and creators actually adlibbed new stretch goals on paper napkins at lunch and then scrambled to contract them out to sculptors.

I would rather Super Dungeon Explore come back and be run competently TBH.
I was in for the starter and a few misc minis on the Relic Knights 2.0 KS though too. Not interested enough to buy them again though.
It's funny - looking at the website linked above - the company already seems to have a miniature game that is already a mix of SDE and Relic Knights. (At least stylistically).

Ignition's rules looked very great on paper, but I'm a little hesitant due to the starting price. Hopefully RK will be cheaper this time around.
.... unless the company gets death threats like with SDE....

Never liked SDE, even for a dungeon crawler, which I dislike in genera, it was exceptionally clunky.

When they added rules for automated monsters I found it a lot more interesting. Not as tactically difficult but it turned it into the Gauntlet-like quick romp I was looking for.

As I recall there was one of the miniatures I was looking for pretty hard for a while. Void witch maybe? The rest of the range left me cold. Still good on them for brining it back and doing what they can for the backers while not making promises they can't keep.
