I see ads constantly for varying styles and quality of gaming dice on the market.

From metals to precious stones to colors/logos that match your army.

Do you collect all your dice to match or are they a random assortment of dice you've collected over the years?

What do you, fine Dakkanauts, use?

A box of assorted GW D6 from the various starter sets. Vaguely colour coded sets for each army (eg green & translucent green independent but ordinary for orks) a black/red megabox for hordes (gw), bone coloured dice for wound markers (favourite & GW special) and a heap of assorted D6, D8, Dwhatever for wound markers tokens something different

I have a brick of chessex dice, purple swirl. Unique enough I generally don’t have to worry about them getting mixed up. I also keep an assortment of other dice for tracking wounds, d10s black with red numbers. Plus some assorted dice the same size as my main set but in other colors in case I want to fast roll squads with different weapons.

I make it a point to have a set of dice (+ tape measure, templates, etc) for each army I own.
They stay in their respective army transports so I never forget them, don't have to transfer stuff back & forth. I have alot of armies (not just GW stuff).

SO....
Most of my dice are either:
A) the red/white/black d6s that've come in GW starters or dice cubes of old,
or
B) cubes of Chessex dice.
Nothing expensive, and must be easy to read at a glance, for the masses of generic dice.

There are a few forces that have thier own unique dice:
●Lumineth - the launch box came with clear yellow dice with the Lumineth rune Two sets
●Skaven - yellow with a cheese wedge from Baron of Dice. Two sets
●Gloomspites (goblins) - GW Badmoon dice. Two sets.
Kill Team - the orange dice that came in the KT21 Ork/Krieg set.
●WWII games (Flames of War & Bolt Action) - nation, sometimes unit, specific symbols.
●Team Yankee (FoW WWIII) - nation specific

I also have a pack of dice with the local shops logo on them - custom from Baron of Dice.
They haven't been assigned to a force yet.

And then there's the multitude of other d6s acquired over 40+ years of gaming....
But for a few rare exceptions? My dice "collection" is largely devoid of anything expensive/non-plastic/hard to read.

Interesting on the “each army has their own so I don’t forget”

I generally kept everything in one box that I could keep with my case, and swap armies in and out of that as needed. But part of that is the KR Multicase system. Recently as I started keeping armies in non-KR magnetic boxes I put together a new tray for those forces.

I have 4 different sets of gw ork dice as well as 30k DG dice and nurgle dice to go with my 40K DG. The GW DG dice from 8th edition were useless for actually throwing dice so I never got them. Nowadays these would be nice to have as wound or turn counters but the prices on eBay are ridiculous.

I have a set of 7 dice with the right amount of colours for all command possibilities for DBM, that I got when I started wargaming.

Two cubes that I got when I needed more dice for FoG.
Plus two more boxes of Chessex dice for each of my KoW armies.
A set of D12s for Snarling Badger Studios games that double up as KoW damage counters.
I have a set of resin skull dice to track hazards for Gaslands, plus some small d6s for actually rolling and a set of the special Gaslands dice.

Finally, I have a bag of assorted "RPG dice" that started as the home for my polyhedral D&D dice.
Extra dice have been added over the years as I got dice for specific things that I don't need anymore. D20s for infinity, big blue and purple D6s for AoS Fate Dice, D10s for wound counters (but D12 work better) and so on.
There is also 2 half pencils, an eraser and a pencil sharpener in there, for if I ever play a TTRPG again.

Count me one of the sad people who has different dice for different armies and therefore an ever expanding dice collection....! With my historicals it's mostly Chessex dice which are just 'themed' by colour (chessex speckled white dice for my winter armies, for example) but do also a few faction-specific dice from Battlefront.

Sci-fi (and MESBG) gaming, it's almost all themed/faction dice (except for those I haven't managed to get hold of yet :( ). Don't know why, I just like having matching dice! Can't say it's ever given me any extra luck or anything...

A sack of 3 years of Dakka dice

It's been a while since the last batch were up for order, but when they came around, I grabbed a couple of sets of 6.

Those D10s have rolled better since, honest

Mostly using generic dice, and micro D6s for wound counter duties, but I do get faction specific dice for my favourite armies/warbands. So far that means Eldari dice for my Corsair Voidscarred and 4 different flavours of BA dice for my IXth

I have some random assorted dice that I use regularly, including:
20 dice that I bought at Adepticon 2018 (10 pink, 10 purple), these have the Adepticon logo on the 6.
4 dice with my FLGS's logo on the 6 that were in a local GT's swag bag some years ago.
20 or so dice that I got at another GT with that GT's logo on them.
One set of dice that I don't use much anymore is the GW Dark Angels ones from 8th edition, that had green, black, and bone colored dice in it.

I also have some of the Magic the Gathering d20s that I use for wound counters on bigger models like vehicles.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

Cheaper on etsy... but they are slightly larger than normal.

If I weren't going to play against someone who keeps lining up my dice on April Fool's Day, it might not be worth it.

Oh, if I make the news by being murderd at a GW store by OCD gamers... you'll know they worked really well.

I use dices that match my army as much as possible. Special dices with logos is the best (GW, Baron, Etsy, custom Chessex, etc), but at a minimum I'd get a regular Chessex cube or two to have some nice matching colours.

In fact, I usually use a minimum of 2 different coloured dices so that I can throw special attacks along the rest. And if I find enough dices that I like, I can have 3 different colours for an army or more. I often ends up with way too many dices

I also have a dice pouch for each army to carry all that too. Most were custom made from Etsy.

Fantasy armies - Retired (Tomb Kings, Vampires, Empire, Chaos Warriors/Daemons, Dark Elves)

Tyranids army - Ever evolving, but about 10k pts
Custodes - 3,500pts (Fully painted yay!)
Thousand Sons - 4,000 pts
Eldar - 3,000pts

Both. I collect for specific things and have a random collection too. I've been at it a long while. Let's see, here's the bulk of it that I have at hand. There are more, but they aren't used these days.

There are GameScience, Koplow, Chessex, WizDice, Baron of Dice, Infinity Dice, Wizard Dice, smiley dice, jumbo dice, yeah lot's of dice.
