I was wondering if anyone has come across any stories or fluff that cover the initial stages of an IG attack on a planet? There’s artwork and stuff out there showing huge dropships carrying regiments and tanks but they feel abit like too many eggs in one basket for trying to secure a beachhead on a planet.

I know there are specialist regiments like the Elysian but they seem pretty rare to be used on every world same with space marines. There’s also the possibility that they land in abandoned parts of the planet first after all planets are big.

So yeah seeing as most of what I’ve read has the IG already on the planet I just wondered how they get there to start with ?

And yes this did start as a pub discussion the most annoying questions always do !
