Wildspire Miniature's "Realm Reforged: Essential Fantasy Miniatures -- Physical & STL" : Was BLG's Fantasy Series II

If anyone remembers the Blacklist Games fiasco of Fantasy Series II, Wildspire Miniatures has the license for both FS1 and FS2 miniatures. W was able to obtain the molds for FS1, but is now seeking funds for the FS2 molds. W has retail product, so purchased the molds in advance. The crowdfunding is there to recoup costs and sort of pre-order the mini's. W is not affiliated with BLG, has run KS in the past for its previous miniatures, as well as is selling existing product retail. (The FS1 monster miniatures are already available online under their Classics line, though in a different format than BLG. AFAIK, They will also be available through the crowdfunding project.)

196 generic fantasy miniatures for $96. Previous backers of FS2 will get a further discount, so will pay $48 for the 196 miniatures (plus a $15 add-on if you want the fifth minion miniature you need for most minion enemy groups in Lasting Tales), one such discount per set pledged in FS2. W is partially paying for tariffs, so backers will pay $7+ additional for tariffs (dunno if that's per pledge). Take a look at the extensive FAQ for more info! A physical book of 5e stats is included. STL set for $49.

These miniatures are more for gamers than painters. If you're looking for hobby-level plastic of a nautical theme, see the Archon campaign. I did notice that both Archon and Wildspire are both offering a Chimera (free for returning backers) and Hydra. Not sure about the scale, but if you back both, it bet it will be "Take your daughter to slay the heroes day" at the office.

Campaign starts 4/15 : https://gamefound.com/en/projects/wildspire-miniatures/realm-reforged

Good to see these make a return. But buyers should be aware the minis are alarmingly small for 28mm.

What about the ruleset, it seemed nice?

The old meta is dead and the new meta struggles to be born. Now is the time of munchkins.

Hmm. Which miniatures did you compare them with? I have the Reaper Bones and the only Archon Deuslair human-sized figure I got around to painting, and haven't noticed. See below!

Lasting Tales! I enjoy the ruleset b/c it supports campaigns, including with events between adventures. Wildspire did not acquire the rights, but it's available PDF.

As much as I like the game, I have caveats and recommend the $8 Sellswords and Spellslingers ahead of it, although I finished up S&S's 10 scenarios in a week, so still had time for Lasting Tales!

I found the FS1 minis painted up well and they're in scale with my Reaper and Wizkids D&D figures.

I'm on the fence about FS2, even at 50% off for attempting to buy it a second time, mostly because between FS1, Bones 4-6 and D&L III-VI, I have very little need for additional bulk fantasy minis. I'd rather get individual pieces ala carte if they're compelling enough.

Wildspire gave the Lasting Tales backers the STL files for FS1 and FS2, which is more than Blacklist bothered with. I'm long past needing another pile of generic fantasy minis, however. Even at 50% I'll not be getting any of these.

Blacklist Games still owns the Lasting Tales rules and claims they're still working on producing the physical books as of a february update, but that's highly unlikely to ever actually happen. The rules are solid, luckily they originally commisioned an proper rules writer (Mark Latham) and the digital rulebook was completed long before the KS mess, you can get a digital copy from DrivethroughRPG. Sadly it's not set up for print-on-demand, it's a 264 page full color rulebook that is NOT home-printer friendly. Very pretty graphic design though, lots of illustrations and maps and painted minis and well laid out charts and tables, easily on par with rulebooks you see from Modiphius.

There's a fanmade searchable bestiary that is excellent, if you decide to get into it.

I'm interested in the chimera and manticore and keep telling myself I could always use mini's for armies.

If you want everything from FS1 / Classic:
* Classics : Monsters, including Minions x4
* Classic Fantasy Mercenary Guild
* Reinforcements add-on : Minions x1. $15 for 28 mini's. If you have the Lasting Tales game, you want Minions x5.

Or
* Classic Fantasy I Set (Physical)
* Reinforcements add-on

I should mention that, if you're buying for Lasting Tales, the heroes from FS1 are not a great match. I prefer Dwarf Paladin with polearm, Elven Ranger with Spear, Elven Thief with Bow.

Some scale pics by Aradin on the Discord. Details look soft close-up, but, unless you push mini's with your nose, they're fine for gaming. Archon finishes up today, so if you're looking for miniatures for painting, take a look there!
