Yo,

Just in the middle of game, still pretty inexperienced with 10th, a questions come up that we can't find an easy answer for.

Unit is in the open, and is being targeted by torrent weapons.

The player uses go to ground, to "gain the benefit of cover", improving his armour save by 1.

The torrent weapons ignore cover. However, there is no cover specifically in use, he's just gaining the benefit of cover.

Does torrent negate the increased armour save in this situation?

Yes. Yes it does.

You cannot have the Benefit of Cover against an Ignores Cover weapon. Doesn’t matter how you get it.

No, [TORRENT] weapons just hit automatically. However, they virtually all also have [IGNORES COVER]. Which, you know, negates cover no matter the source.

Basically in 10e "cover" is the name of the buff that gives +1 armor and "terrain" is the name of the stuff on the board.

Most "terrain" can give "cover" to a unit but not all, and units can get "cover" without "terrain" as well (from Go to Ground, smoke, indirect fire, etc).

So a forest is "terrain" but a unit inside that forest gets the "cover" effect from being there. Flamers ignore the "cover" effect regardless of the source.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

Basically don’t use go to ground against ignores cover or if you’re in cover already. Doesn’t help. Waste of a CP.
