Hi.

Is there a way of getting rid of excess plastic glue that’s on a model so that you can see the detail again

Since plastic glue isn’t actually glue, but rather melts the plastic into a sorta goop that becomes glue, if you put the plastic glue directly onto the details then it’s sadly likely gone. In the same way if you melt an ice sculpture into water and refreeze it in however the water ended up, the original detail is gone. If it was superglue then it’d be a different story.

One day I will have something funny enough to be in a signature.

I recommend getting used to thin plastic cement varieties, such as Tamiya thin cement and Mr Hobby SP Glue. Way harder to botch up the details with those by my experiences..
